So the working week has been quiet bimbling and mild brilliance in updating and tidying up the QMS ahead of an assessment visit towards the end of September.Forgive me, but I *really* enjoyed being kind, patient and understanding 😉 when the full extent of my boss’s mess up in document control became obvious on the documents he reviewed and updated back in April. He used to be a Technical Director and knows his way around a QMS, but was exhausted and horribly stressed in April when doing these updates. I have more or less resolved the muddle now … 😉
Helped a supervisor from Night Shift write an email to our mutual boss about an omission on the new employment contracts issued to the night shift. He’d come in to speak to the boss but the boss had left site early. Night shift guy very grateful and we had a good laugh as we wrote the email between us. Made me feel like I’d done a good thing.Second Finance sub committee meeting of the parish council tonight. I seem to have ended up chairing it … 🤷♀️ So I took it by the scruff and defined who would be capturing action minutes, setting the agenda and booking the zoom calls in future … (it was a chaotic muddle before going into it this time … 🙄). We actually had a constructive session this evening, we have come away with solid actions and we have far better understanding of what we need to look at and prep data about in the budgetting process for the next three years.
Proper tired now …. 🥱

Didn’t sleep well last night (never do after evening meetings these days …) and woke at 5am! 🥱
Quieter day in work but this evening I have:
- Set to and signed us up to a two year fixed rate energy deal so we at least know where we are, how much we are paying each month (ish, depending on consumption).- Rang PC who had been helping the previous clerk with admin to see if she knew what had happened to the PC insurance certificate… She didn’t, so contacted previous clerk who thought it might be in the inbox of the clerk that he no longer has access to … Relayed all of this to current clerk …
- Replied yes to all three emails from clerk to permission requests she needed and nudged another councillor who has been conspicuous by her absence on the email chains of late, to do the same …
- Tried and failed to find the login for the PC bank account. Need this to start doing monthly mini audit in transactions. Relayed that to chair and clerk.- Printed out and displayed notice of all meetings up until AGM in May next year in the local noticeboard.Cooked a simple, lazy not particularly nutritious, tea, managed to psych myself up enough to make my overnight oats for breakfast tomorrow (I nearly bailed) and am about to put fresh sheets on the bed! 😊😉
Whilst writing this post I’ve had a bit of back and forth with a friend who is restoring a 1970’s dolls house. She wants two bedspreads and a sofa throw for it and has asked me to make three crocheted granny squares for her in purple, orange and pink. My first commission! (I’m really honoured she’s asked me 😊❤️)

This is great news !! Finally caught up with your diary - I am v behind all of them !KajiKita said:So. A thing has happened. A good thing ….
The visit to my parents is coming up soon (not next weekend the weekend after) and *my dad* has said he wants to spend time with us and SENT US IDEAS ON WHAT WE COULD DO TOGETHER AND THEY ARE THINGS I WOULD LIKE … <faints slightly>
I have replied sharing what Mr KK would like to do (the steam train trip) and my dad is up for it!There seems to have been a PROFOUND shift …
I’m a bit dumbstruck…
KKDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
