Normally I target £5 per week on QM33 but after having had such a good start this week, I was pushing on for £10. I have *finally* got there and cashed out! OP tomorrow 😊

In not so good news …. the car needs some TLC (the sump plate needs replacing, along with an oil and filter) but the clutch is also acting up (probably wearing according to our mechanic who’s heard our description of the symptoms). I don’t want to spend the money …. but otoh I don’t want to end up stranded on a dark, wintry country lane with no phone signal because I can’t get the car in first gear …..

I think I will record £800 of my lump of savings in a car pot (doing this divvying up this weekend), clean it out when I get the bill (hopefully there will be some leftover! 😳) and then start the car repairs pot again ….

You're doing really well on QM - you obviously have a lot more patience than I do! That car bill will be neutralised in no time 🤣
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!

    At £10 a week?! That’ll be a while!! 😂😂

Still, I feel better for knowing that I am still OPing whilst fixing the car …. 😊

We’ve had a positive thing happen today. Weeks ago hubby noticed a smaller, nice sideboard with back mirror that will fit well in the alcove we will have when we remodel what will be the dining room (it will be years before this happens as it also involves changing the stairs! 😳😂), so he bought it. This has meant that we have had TWO sideboards in one small, narrow room and c. 13 flagons of HM cider and Perry …..

I put our original sideboard on FB Mplce some weeks ago but only got people messing about …. Finally, today, I have had a message from someone who isn’t debating the price (£120) and wants to come, with a mate, to collect it tomorrow! 😊👏

Really hoping this comes off! I have had a burst of energy this evening and I think it’s because that old sideboard (should! 🤞) finally be going and we can get the room back to some semblance of order! It will also mean I can bring the dehumidifier and the clothes rack from the conservatory inside the house which will be better too.

We have emptied the old sideboard and found a few things we will eB@y - some really heavy highball glasses, a Cornish blue salt and pepper set and some other bits and pieces. I was hoping that we could use the ££ from the sideboard for savings / an OP, but hubby reminded me that we have a big firewood delivery coming so it might be better to use the cash for that. I can see the logic of that and it should mean our accounts are untouched by the firewood cost.

Did the £10.15 QM33 OP this morning 😊

Wore the engagement ring to the family lunch today and MiL went all wibbly when she saw me wearing it ❤️

Finished the day by having a lovely session in the potting shed, so I now have:
    - garlic, three types including elephant
    - broad beans
    - a version of shallots that was confidently proclaimed to be an autumn planting variety - we’ll see 🤷‍♀️😊
    on the go.
This kind of thing always makes me feel good 😊

  • Sounds like some good “wins” there. And I agree even though I hate spending money on the car it is good to know that you have put something aside for the inevitable repairs and having a “car” pot is a good idea. We run our cars til no longer economical to repair so treat our car pot like the regular monthly payment that friends of ours use to have a new car every three years because they don’t want the hassle of an mot!

Thanks TDQ 😊 We run our vehicles like that too, and even more so since the pandemic has pushed the price of second hand vehicles up so much.

    Accountability moment:
I still haven’t filed my expenses from the German trip in October. This needs doing, partly because I will end up with deductions from my pay for what I spent on the company C/Cd but also to get the money back for when I had to use my own CC (so many places don’t take Am3x 🙄) or had to pay cash (German taxis! 😳).

I scanned all the receipts on Thursday, relabelled the PDFs when I was off work on Friday and need to upload them all THIS WEEK! (Can’t easily do this from home.)

I just wandered past all the garlic, shallots etc in the potting shed to re-spin the towels in the washing machine in the undercroft (long story!) and it made me smile to see them 😊 Forecast is still very damp today, but if nothing else I should be able to get a lot of my little winter saladings, that are lurking in the conservatory, planted out in the greenhouse 🤞😊
