Thanks @beanielou, @brie, @Watty1, @savingholmes - wisdom and kindness from all of you x
Brie, you are right about the constipating effects of morphine, but given how little he is eating atm, I think it is academic.
Savingholmes, you are right and I am trying to spin all the plates as best I can including looking after me.It’s been a busy day;
- cleaned bathroom and loo - badly needed doing so am very pleased about this job,
- sewed up the seat of my work trousers (again!) but with better quality thread,
- clarified my hand size for my gardening gloves order,
- emptied all internal bins,
- washed dried, folded and returned Mr KK’s washing,
- washed dried towels,
- emptied the car completely ready for swap over tomorrow,
- listened to Mr KK talk about his dad - they managed to get some morphine into him and he’s feeling a bit better. It seems FiL has had a small stroke. The district nurse called a doctor and a full medical assessment has been done of FiL and next week a cannula will be fitted to his shoulder so that morphine or other meds can be administered more easily. Mr KK had a moment holding his dad’s hand and them both agreeing that it was ‘pretty !!!!!!’ - this is quite emotional openness from both of them ….
- did a tip run (so good to finally be rid of the builder’s tonne bags from the bottom of the drive!),
- didn’t go to the garden centre close to the tip as I wasn’t really feeling it and I didn’t want to spend for the sake of it,
- helped Mr KK lift the engine block out of the frame if the bike he is restoring,
- went down to the bottom of the garden to do a ’sand painting’ - not a painting at all 😉 - to help me process the after effects of all my redundancies - interestingly, many other sub-par interactions with bosses came up too. I will maintain this sand painting through the next week as other stuff arises. Hoping doing this will help me sleep better tonight,
- helped Mr KK bash the final sections of the bike frame apart
- filled another big bucket from the veggie bed and a tray of bindweed roots - bed STILL not done, it an inch closer … 🙄😉
- read several chapters of a book about 10 different types and experiences of meditation that I got when I went to the conference in Manchester - she is such a good writer 😊

Beautiful cat pictures - really warm the cockles of your heart. Sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I can understand where you are coming from with work and the kind of PTSD. I've had issues at previous jobs, and just when they fade into a distant memory they are out of nowhere triggered by someone's actions or words. There's a lot going on at the moment too, so you are probably at a low point which isn't helping. I think you are right, that just by recognising why you can at least be kind to yourself and give yourself a break. I love that you are using your sand painting as part of your healing.
