I know the feeling you had with your fleecy blankets. A few years back I decided to follow Marie Kondo’s advice with decluttering. When doing my underwear drawer I vaguely estimated how many bras I had. 6 maybe? 14 was the actual amount!

I had 4 or 5 too small ones unworn (still with tags on) - at that cost it’s crazy! 😊 Now CS’d.

I’m not quite sure how sustained it will be, but he’s getting the dopamine rewards that I am, of finding things he’s not seen for years and clearing clutter (as well as finding things to sell, which is much easier for him as he has an offline network for his stuff) so I think he’s quite enjoying himself 😊

Glad to see us all decluttering, it certainly helps - and great we all have found our own ways to deal with it
I have in the past tried the marie kondo of pulling all things out of one type eg clothes and separating them into piles so tips etc but for me it is too much overwhelm on a very busy life

so 1 thing on day 1, 2 on day 2 works for me personally as it is far less full on and more of a game .. when it comes to later in the month when I am looking for more things eg 30/30 before I restart the clock I then tackle drawers .. however for 9/9 I did take 2 CS dresses I have been planning to sell for a year (!) but just finally dropped them to the CS with some odd bits fashion jewellery that I think a friend gave me I never wore - freedom!

Career choices are such a big thing - being healthy happy and a great income is where we all want to be - like the give it 6 months idea but then be strict . I have been drifting on this myself
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

    Oh my ….. 😳
Just had a survey done for looking at the feasibility of solar panels for our house  ….
We are using double the amount of electric at half the price that everyone else is paying. We are going to be absolutely scuppered come next October when we come out of our fixed rate deal if we don’t do something different!
It shocked Mr KK enough to turn the lights out in the garage 3 hours earlier than normal! But there is so much more we need to do.

@LadyWithAPlan, it certainly does help 😊
My sister and brother in law live with hardly anything, but for me they have taken it to an extreme as there is no art or colour in the home at all. I find it mentally very cold. There is a balance to be found and had.

Art and colour are essential. I'd find that hard too.

Glad the decluttering are going strong.

Good luck with the energy bill throttle back. At least you have 12 months to plan.

I have said to Mr KK that this has to be a wake up call! Fortunately he agrees.

I have had a fairly intense day. Second stage, f2f interview that was a two hour grilling with an HR person taking down every word I said! 😳 Came out of that feeling fairly drained and then had a busy afternoon working from home. Felt like a zombie for a while, I think from a lack of food, but am feeling a bit more with it now.

Mr KK seems to have had a rush of blood to the head and is getting himself on board with the idea of the solar panels idea …. I’m amazed …. But delighted 😀 We have had the first set of quotes through, which we will review at the weekend. We may then look at getting a second quote, but I would want someone accredited and certified. What it has absolutely done is motivate Mr KK to sorting out the garage - it has the biggest south facing roof and there would easily be space up in the eaves for the inverter and any battery we might go for. However, it was under spec’d timber wise when it was built, so it is now sagging - Mr KK wants to renew the support structure from inside before putting 200kg or so of panels on it!

In the meantime, somewhat less dramatically, I have complained (nicely) to T3sco about their prawn cocktail going off 4 days before the due date! 😳 Mr KK came home somewhat cross as he couldn’t have his lunch today and immediately binned the offending pot! I am getting a refund (only £2.25, but hey 🤷‍♀️😉😂) and was able to supply the barcode details and all the date stamp details. Lady I was complaining to was delighted. 😊
