  • Thanks so much @EssexHebridean - lots of good advice there that I can take forward.  I already pay my insurances in lump sums as it's cheaper than doing it monthly :)

  • Every now and then it's good to revisit your budgets and see if any changes can be made. I probably do it more often than needed but I use my budget spreadsheet every morning to work out what's still to come out of my bank and what I have left to spend.  Your updates still sound really positive which is great to see :)

So Hastings offered me a renewal quote for my car insurance at £48 a month, I refused and said I could get it cheaper they could only offer me it for £46, so now I’m with AA which are £35 a month. I did originally plan to pay in full, but for some reason I thought my insurance was up at the end of the month. Turns out it’s tonight at 11.59PM

Also, phone contact went up recently and I’m paying £36.20 for a sim only deal!! So, I checked how much data I use which was next to nothing as I only ever use data when I’m outside of work or the house. Did a quick check on Vodafone and I could upgrade to a new mobile plan with 6GB data for £11. So I’m going to collect that one day in the week, I know some will disagree with getting a new phone etc due to being in debt. BUT, my current phone is nearly 4 years old, has a smashed screen that I recently paid £130 to get fixed at work at a discount rate, then smashed again and also has a smashed back which is £80. So, I decided to treat myself with getting a better phone. Also, comes with a free phone case! Oh, and it’s £16PM!!

Sainsburys - I’ve done soooo much over time with them recently, we’re very very short staffed. But the pay is better at being £12.45 from 4am until 6am and then £10PH. Not working with them Monday or Tuesday to give myself a rest. I plan on Netflix all day!

Debt - never thought I’d see the day where I have one single debt to pay. £1820 or something (my signature has messed up and not been updated)

  • I think you can say you've actually saved yourself money by getting the new phone as the phone and sim are still less than what you're paying now. And well done on the car insurance! I moved from Hastings at my last renewal too as they were quoting WAY over what I could get elsewhere. I do pay mine annually but my home and car insurance have the same renewal date so I always remember.

Enjoy your Netflix day tomorrow, you deserve it after all your hard work!

Good job on getting your insurance renewed.

Sometimes we need a new phones mines was years old no space and kept having to delete apps to use others. I bot a refurbished one that said good condition but it was perfect not one mark in it.

Enjoy your Netflix day, I’ve been struggling to find a good series to watch.

    Afternoon all,

So my 118 loan has now been passed from CARS LTD to IMFS. My balance is £1840 but IMFS are adamant it's £1880. So I've told them, I'm not going to pay a penny until they sort it out as I have sent proof etc.

Is it an admin charge for it being passed to someone else?  Why has it been passed over, has it defaulted?  Hope you manage to get it sorted

It defaulted back last year and got sold to CARS. But recently changed back, looks a very similar company. No I think they've just got my balance wrong as my last balance was £1880 and then I paid £40 to them and then they passed it over to the new company. Thanks! They've put the account on a hold so no phone calls, just wait and see and then set up a payment plan with them I guess
