You already know the answer on 118 - you've made an F&F offer before which they did go for, but not at a level you wanted - so you know they'll most likely be willing to make a deal. Be patient - pay the minimum, and ONLY the minimum to them for at least 3 - 4 months, while you start amassing savings which will be earning you at least some interest, then make another F&F offer and see what comes back. Remember - while you're routinely overpaying them it is literally not in their interest to agree any sort of decent settlement - but if you start sending signals in the short term that things may be getting a bit tight financially, their systems will start flagging up that it might be a good idea to get you cleared sooner rather than later.  I know you want to be debt free ASAP - that's entirely natural, but do your future self a favour and get DF while not paying more than you absolutely have to!

    Evening all,

    What a loooong day!

So, my car had to go into the garage yesterday as its got a wiring issue causing the engine light to come back on. So we have a van, his car and my car. He put his alloys into a repair shop last Tuesday and got them back today so for the past two days OH has been taking me to work. Great, simple. So got the alloys back today, spent the last hour and half fitting them as the powder coat has made the layers thicker meaning it's a pain in the bum to get back on, hence how it took so long. We had to sand down the insides and in sync jack the car back down. All going great, I jump into his van to drive it home less than 5 minutes away. Won't go into gear, odd.. He's already halfway home so I jump out and notice there's a leak. Ring him, tell him so he has to come back. The van won't go into gear as the clutch pedal is stuck down.. Slave master cycliner is gone. How annoying!!!

Basically, he has to now take me to work tomorrow and try and get his van recovered (luckily we broke down outside my brothers house, who lives in a graveyard so we lucky pushed it into a parking space)

Sorry if I've bored you with my long story, but now it's dinner time and I've just put work lunch on in the slow cooker for tomorrow.

Hopefully get my car back ASAP!

Oh also, closed Likely Loans account as I rang them today, also had an email about rhe council tax rebate. So that's a nice £150 that I didn't have.

Uch that’s bad luck. I’m intrigued that your brothers house is in a graveyard 😱

Haha its pretty cool, it's only the one house and it's in the grounds of a graveyard! Super quiet obviously which is nice!

  • Terrible luck with the vehicles at the moment, sounds like you both know what you’re doing though so hopefully it won’t cost too much to get back on the road x

Good news after all the bad luck were having.

I offered aqua 50% and they accepted. So paying £125 tomorrow and they will clear the rest.

Thank you! I think going forward I am going to do as you suggested with 118. I'll just pay them £20 for the next couple of months and hope they finally agree to a lower settlement offer and also aquire some savings :s:smile:
