  • 3 DAYS TRYING TO GET THOUGH!!

They have closed the phones lines. WhatsApp, Chat bot.

After 30mins of constantly submitting a complaint as it would not work, finally got a complaint submitted code. 8 hours later,,  robot reply not stopping the price hike. Stated if you disagree, call them!!!!

YOU CANNOT get though!!!! On hole 108 mins, then cut off.

Shocking joke. Where is the Regulator to take action??!!

I cancelled my TV / Phone / Mobile package with them but they convinced me to keep 50mb fibre at £23 per month. I know there are slightly cheaper deals but Virgin can almost guarantee 50mb speeds...
I had similar result... My bb with virgin was going up from 27.50 to around 33 back a few weeks ago.
I spoke with retentions one week and they best they said they can do is £26 a month for 18 months. I said thx but I'll look elsewhere... Phoned back a few days later to cancel and after 15 mins of me not budging on offers, they gave me 50mb for £22.50, so I stuck with em and I have no issues with their service.
  • Got letter from Virgin today telling me my bill was going up by £8.50.  Checked with MSE and rang Virgin. Took ages but eventually got through to a really nice chap in Belfast who offered me a new 18mth contract at a saving of £34mth against my current amount. Wow!  I was astounded.  Thanks MSE!!
  • Worth the frustration in the end ......
I rang three times - on hold for 30minutes or more each time.
The third time I was connected and then the line dropped.
Amazingly a few minutes later I got a call from Virgin and an apology for losing the connection.
After a little chat, was offered a new 18 month contract with quicker broadband 200mb (which I wanted, could have had the same for less), more TV channels(no interest to me) and weekend only calls(dropping evenings which as he pointed out I never use).
I was looking at something around £75+pm after the upcoming increases. New 18mth contract for £54pm.
PS I have been with Virgin a lonnnnnng time. No-one else has anything like the same broadband speeds here.
  • Hi,

    I'm on M350 broadband for £31 a month inclusive of a £25 a month discount - contracted until September 2022.

The letter said my package is going up £3.25 a month. I called the number and went through on the 'thinking of leaving us' option which automatically offered me a discount of £3.25 a month for the next 6 months which I accepted.. easy..

Will probably look to going with brsk around then as they should be live in my area - 6 months free 1Gb and £49 thereafter.. (or 100Mb for £25 / 500Mb for £33) and it's FTTP..

    Cheers,

This is quite a smart move on their part. They know 1GBit fibre companies are just looming around the corner to take away their business. If they hike everyone up then they have an excuse to keep people locked in a new 24mth + contract and the customer feels better about themselves getting a "deal" .

just be careful when you are signing the new contract. check to see if you can get fibre first.

I fully agree. Check if you can get Ultrafast Full Fibre with an Openreach (or CityFibre, or Altnet) provider first.
  • I wonder how much I'd be paying if I accepted every price rise they tried over the years.

I started paying about £15 a month for 50MB or something small, but they're trying to get rid of the lower tiers as I don't need the 200MB I have now but it sort of got forced on me.

Vodafone is always at the ready and due to a strange chain of events with TalkTalk, I now have a free new compatible telephone socket so installation is easy.
Yes check if you can get Full Fibre first as well via the Openreach, or CityFibre (or other Alt Nets) networks.
