Out freezer: large chicken, bunch of citrus (going to attempt marmalade, finally!), 1/3 loaf courgette and cheddar.
Out storecupboard: large bottles each of HM curried greenbeans, pears, pumpkin pickle all for my sister yesterday. Smaller bottled pears for us.

Out: the rest of the greengages that had defrosted, sadly no longer edible. I'm not happy about that but nothing can be done now.

In: half a bag of cauliflower cheese that I'd left in the work freezer.

Out: remainder of two bags of salady stuff that had got beyond use. I feel guilty but I've done okay with eating what I have in (though there are still parsnips and swedes needing attention).

In: (frozen) three salmon fillets, two haddock in breadcrumbs and 10 chicken thighs - yes, I've been to Lidl in the evening again and found the orange stickers. I could have bought a lot more chicken if we'd had room to store it, as there was more than would have been sold in the remaining time the shop was open.

@Cherryfudge, it not always easy to see possible waste and leave it. Years ago worked at an hotel that served buffet style breakfast, we all gained weight eating the lefovers everyday! Good luck skipping that aisle next time in L1dl.
In: 2 packs rice and veg stirfries, 2 garlic pizzas.
Out: last of penne pasta, handful frozen peas, both to go with leftover slowcooker chicken for dinner.

Oh so true! I would have been eating leftovers too, especially as a good hotel breakfast is one of my treats.

This evening I found the discounts at Tesc0...
In: veggie sausages, leeks, 2 gluten free items, tins of fruit for the winter emergency cupboard, single portion humous (which I freeze till wanted), milk (which is currently being yogurtified - 2 pints marked down to 46p is cheap yogurt!).
    Out: cooked, diced chicken, chorizo.

I haven't, but the batch I made last week is still mild (apparently the yogurty taste develops as the bacteria do their work) and I really like it. I used a small amount last night for a starter for the next batch which has also turned out as I hoped, so it must still be alive.

In: 3 pots of hm yogurt, hot chocolate (emptied one hot choc into another to save space).

    Out: cooked chicken.

I've realised a bit of a booboo on my part. The kilner jars full of tagliatelli and posh spaghetti looks lovely, but neither good for reheating as a work lunch. And all my beans and  pulses take more than 10min to cook, also no good if need a quick meal for work. Guess will have to go shopping for bog standard penne/fussilli

Does it help to batch cook and freeze portions? Depends on having freezer space, of course!

I've finished all my batch cooked and frozen beans! Ms C cooked some brown lentils while i got ready for work, enough for a few meals.
Out: dried brown lentils, cooked beetroot (freezer), last of the balsamic vinegar. HM pumpkin pickle and bottle of pears to neighbour.

@Cherryfudge, ms C wants us to try yoghurt in slow cooker, could you recommend any brand/product in supermarkets that qualifies as a "live yoghurt" to get us started with? Thanks.
