Since she can revert back to RV billing in the first 12 months if it isn't cheaper, it's really a no-brainer. And at no cost.
Its 24 months or within 30 days of the fourth bill

It used to be the case that some water companies had a 12 month rule to revert and others 24 months. With my company Severn Trent it is 24 months.

    'Changing your mind
    • If you choose to have a meter installed, you can switch back to your previous method of charging within the first 12 months.'

That publication appears to be dated 2015 and regulations could have changed. However 'googling' Ofwat gives other addresses but the ones I have tried always link back to the above quote.

I wish i tried a few years ago.  They came for a survey on March 3... not enough access so they said improve it and we will come back March 13. I improved it as much as possible but at best you get ya shoulders in but still difficult to work . The said this but as my sink drainage pipe is a bit in the way and they didnt like the state of adjoining water pipe  they again said no. I took this up with them and ive been put on the single person assessed rate which is half the new bill and roughly what i worked out i would spend on the meter. They also gave me a credit on last years bill.

So a great outcome, wont have to think about using less water all the time and the saving covers all the higher power charges till at least Oct. :)
