That's a great energy bill reduction and at least you can divert the cash to where it's needed.I remember buying clothes from a catalogue as a teenager and paying random £2 and £3 payments. Also remember having a payment card from the travel agents for my first holiday!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!1

Can't say I've ever bought clothes where I haven't paid them either via debit or credit card. I don't trust myself to keep track.
Brilliant on getting your DD down on energy!

It was very common years ago, not something I would do now normally but 20% off it’s worth the hassle 😬
Another £10 spent last night on new reading glasses I needed, £5 with voucher and £5 delivery, I might order some if I can find another voucher next month as I’m not great at looking after them! I have been wearing primarni ones which are not the right prescription. £90.10/ £447 spent. I’m holding off using my personal spending money as there’s only £42 left and I’m out for dinner this week with the girls.
Had the pleasure of a McDonald’s lotus biscoff mc flurry last night, ds2 brought us all one home after he met up with a friend, it really was good! Think I need to get back on the healthy eating a bit more though, I’ve been feeling quite rubbish again lately. I think poor eating habits and lack of exercise go hand in hand with low mood and anxiety 🙄 I might start that with a little exercise today, maybe a walk later?

Went for a forty minute walk yesterday, round the block a bit then up to best friends house where we then went out for lunch 😆 - my turn £14 odd although not showing in pending amount online yet which is odd it should, be immediate. Also bought cleaning bits and my first battery air wick air freshener on offer for £4.49 which is brilliant, I need more! With a rearranged and de cluttered downstairs the place is feeling much better and nice smells help too 😊
- £13.48 cleaning bits home bargains /air freshener
- £14 ish on lunch in tk maxx
£117.58/ £447 spent so far since 3rd. Going out for another walk today, then sun has made a brief appreance!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3 -
I’ve been for a couple more walks this week, a 6k at the forest and a 2k at the park with DIL and her doggie “niece” 😆
Also I’ve done some spending, more air fresheners, a little food, petrol etc. so now I’ve spent £203.79 😱
I’ve also decided to reduce the monthly budget from £447 to £440, one it’s an easier figure and two I’m offsetting it against this months monthly payment - ie. I’m paying less in July and an extra £7 pm for the rest of the term, this gives me a little extra to fill a small hole in the finances I’ve been struggling with (again!) as well as pay for the £68.99 boots in one hit 🙄
Hopefully still on track for the 33 months and hanging on by a thread for it being 30 months aka March 25 when I’m 50.I’ve been making more of an effort food wise, baked a loaf this week, and made dough a few times, once for pizzas and once for flatbreads, the flatbreads are so much nicer than pitta bread I would often buy to have with houmous and way cheaper 😬My parents have bought (another) flat today, in a town an hour and twenty minutes away. I’m not sure they intend on renting it out and as they have only used the York one for a few days this year I really can’t see the point, I don’t think they see any issues with owing multiple homes 😩 None of my business but i have my own views on this and never usually say, families are complicated things!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -
Maybe another place for you and OH to go for the odd weekend away?Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Hi, they told my brother that he probably won’t want to stay there as there’s nothing to do, so I’m unsure about that at the moment 😆

A m other flat does seem like an odd choice when they are not using the York flat much. But then we all see the world differently and other people can be hard to understand. I am always surprised when people do the sorting hat test and don’t turn out to be Hufflepuffs because the answers seem so clear to me!1

😂 indeed Ramouth! It does look a lovely flat , they came over yesterday and I didn’t say much except that looks nice, which is unusual for me 😆 The kids have fairly strong views on the whole landlord investor generation, I think ds2 is perhaps closest to airing his views, but as long as he is polite that’s up to him I guess….
Dh is working all weekend and has been stressed and fairly hard to live with recently, “nothing to do with work” apparently, which is what he always says when he goes through phases like this, after being married almost 27 years now I think I might be disagreeing with that! The money is going into his business which he won’t draw out and already has a pretty big cushion, in short he doesn’t need to do it. He feels he has no money on one hand, on the other we are only paying the mortgage off so quickly now so he has the freedom to leave his job if he wants to, We had a long chat on holiday last September and we decided this is what will give him freedom and options, so in principle he agrees with it it and even in practice he doesn’t ever spend any money anyway except if we go away, he’s pretty low maintenance! Anyway I’m ploughing on as we are at the moment, but won’t discount the thought of a trip somewhere this summer if it helps things. In better news I have a very exciting day ahead! At the end of last week ds2 asked if I fancied seeing Blur at Wembley tonight, er , yes I do please 😬 apparently ds1 booked floor standing on release for £100 (without inviting his mum bad son😢) and now one of the lads has managed to book 6 seats last minute and said I’m allowed one 🎉 cost each £11.60 😱 so ds2 is my baby sitter as we are not sure how high up they are and I’m terrified of heights 😂 hopefully I’ll be able to get up there, reminds me of best friend being taken to a theatre show by her hubby who bought cheap seats at the top and she actually crawled on her hands and knees as it was so high and she was scared 😆MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁3
