    No, don't insist!

I hope the blood tests come back OK - but good to know you are being investigated. It's poor that you have to wait so long though.

It's good that DH is on board, albeit as the silent partner... but as long as you don't feel you're missing out as a result.

    😆 I’ll try!

I do feel like I’m missing out on holidays but that’s just me being a spoiled brat 😬 think I’m having some form of mid life crisis where I just want to go travelling, too much time in lockdown spent watching cruise shows and that weekend away travel programme, it’s given me ideas!

I wonder how many of us get mortgage free and do make considerable life changes? I worry it might be a bit of an anti climax after all these years if I ever do manage it 😆

Ask me next week! (Although technically we have another £6500 to pay, it's just not on the mortgage.) I do worry though that I'll lose focus, when in reality, we're not likely to stay here in this house forever and there's retirement etc. to save for. I think the focus of the mortgage (with the money owed going down) is very helpful. That being said, I think the habits are so ingrained now and I see making my money work well for me as a hobby that I can't imagine not continuing to be fairly disciplined. We may use more of it for trips, but even then, I don't feel like we've really missed out by focusing on the mortgage.

We were mortgage free for a while and didn’t change our habits much at all.  The best thing was being able to think we could just quit our jobs after a tough day at work!
I agree, thats huge.  It helped mr d carry on at work longer, just simply knowing he could walk out made it easier to cope day by day.  Its the mind space created by not having the constant if we do this, if we don't do this, if we etc etc etc.  Freeing.  If you think ng, you've been doing this for 13 years.  Hours and hours of thinking about it, at times worrying when the job situation was bad, once there's no need for it. Wow.  Big relief.

Thanks for all the comments guys, it’s interesting to see how things have changed for everyone 😊

Congratulations to Vix who is mortgage free today too 🎉 what an amazing achievement, so great when you see people get to the end of such a long journey that has taken so many sacrifices ❤️

Lazy day today, I took best friend to physio but it didn’t take long at all, so I’ve been mooching from garden to living room not doing a lot 🙄

Dh is working tomorrow and out Sunday with dd so I’ve a free weekend, which could easily be lost to laziness especially in this heat. However that’s not going to happen! So my plans are:

    • List some stuff on fleabay/vinted - I’m almost out of money and unable to squeeze dh for more 😆
    • Do a list of jobs (renovation type and de cluttering) for the next month and basically until the mortgage is gone that can be done for free or cheaply and cost them.
    • Take dad his father day gift Sunday
The theatre at the cinema was great last night (fleabag) I did end up paying as dd did offer but I needed to use my card to get my ticket cheaper so with ice cream it was £37 😱 only the second time ever having ice cream there and it was so good 😁 I very rarely take her out so that’s my excuse 😆
