@sugarbaby125 i read about the this in the news, how awful. i hope your daughter is okay as well, as it must have been scary for the the staff as well as people outside.
@Murphybear welcome to your fabbing journey.
We’ve spent most of the weekend finishing off the painting, decluttering and hanging some pictures. We had to get it done, as we are having new carpet fitted tomorrow in our living room and stairs to our loft extension.

How exciting Chanie 😄 Hope your carpets have been fitted today and that you'll be good to go for Christmas now 😊
It took us till 5pm yesterday to finish our painting our room and moving stuff back in ahead of putting the tree up, so we had the football on in the kitchen (temporary TV has been set up in there since Feb) and kept popping in and out! The tree was finally finished at about 8pm yesterday 🙄
Today I've been setting up the snug/dining end and putting up pictures in both areas, arranging decorative objects etc. This evening we were able to eat at the dining table for the first time in months.
It's so absolutely amazing having these spaces usable at last....I have to keep pinching myself 😍5 -
Chanie, my daughter was okay and the staff that worked inside of the Brixton 02. The second young black woman who was seriously injured has died today. Such a tragedy for her and her family as she was only 23. She worked for the security firm covering the event.
Chanie, well done to you and your husband on your hard work to get your home ready for the new carpets to be laid.
Liberty Lily, wow you and your husband have worked so hard in the last two days to get your room. Congratulations on being able to use the room as intended.5 -
Well, the bad news is that my carpets didn’t arrive today, but we’ve been told they will be coming tomorrow instead.
i have a couple of days off work this week, which i’m going to use to get ready for Christmas, as we still have quite a bit to sort out and then i can relax and enjoy the Christmas spirit.4 -
Hope you have better luck with your carpets today Chanie!
I'm still tweaking stuff in the 'new' living spaces here at the old mill - it's amazing what you can find stashed away and by *shopping your home*, lol! This morning I put all the booze out on the vintage drinks trolley DH bought me for my last birthday. Also the decanter and glasses I inherited from my parents. I also found an original embroidered Art Nouveau cushion I'm going to add to those on the big sofa - it was an ebay purchase back in about 2006. There's still one area to mist coat as the plaster has only just dried, plus the swagged light fitting to sort, a door curtain to hang and more art to hang 🙄
Anyway, here's a couple of Christmas tree pics taken yesterday.....

@liberty_lily lovely Christmas tree.
Our carpets did indeed arrive today and i love how much nicer it makes our home look and feel.
i have a couple of days off work now, to get ready for christmas and one of those will be a tip run to get rid of the old carpet and off cuts, plus lots of wrapping and prep for Xmas day.4 -
Thank you Chanie 😊 Great news that your carpets have now been fitted!
Last night we did a few more odd finishing touches - hung the door curtain on the fabulous black/gold wooden pole (another ebay purchase from a few years back), did that bit of mist coating and hung a couple of antique mirrors. Today I'm getting the first coat on the final area of wall and organising the contents of the decoupage cabinets that used to be in the outbuilding 😉
I really need to dye my roots ahead of Christmas, but need DH's help with that!5 -
Our living room is coming together 😍 -
This antique girandole (or mirrored candle sconce) came from Ardingly antiques fair in 2018. On it is a (reproduction) icon that DS brought back as a gift for us from his school trip to Russia 😊
The original Art Nouveau mirror was purchased on eBay back in 2008 from a lovely lady from whom we bought several other pieces as she was downsizing her collection. The vintage curtain pole was another eBay buy in 2013 and the curtains are from our last house.....4 -
Liberty Lily. what gorgeous photographs. That mirror and curtain pole are both exquisite
I adore the peacock and flowers around the mirror
