Wednesday2000 said:That is terrible. I hadn't even heard about that incident but I just looked on the BBC news about it.
It seems earlier reporting was incorrect, there are 3 people critically ill in hospital not 4.3 -
How awful Sugarbaby 😪😪😪 I hadn't heard about it either till you posted here....another terrible incident just before Christmas. Pleased to hear your daughter wasn't caught up in it personally though.

We've made great progress on the DIY this week - mainly as a result of DH being unable to work due to the frozen conditions and having a heavy cold 🙄 His alternative customers (the ones he'd planned going to if it was too cold to render at the other place) went down with covid mid week after initially feeling a bit unwell, so he couldn't go there either. DH tested negative and his symptoms have been totally different to our previous experience of it, whilst I've had a slight sore throat and drippy nose which I attribute to the extreme cold weather!
Yesterday, whilst DH worked on filling a large gap in the floor adjacent to the windows and more mist coating, I got the fireplace waxed and decorated for Christmas 😁
Today we need to get more painting done and complete the saniflo pipework/fill in the floor (the pipes will run from the soon-to-be-completed cloakroom, travelling beneath the living room floor to the soil pipe outside).
I also need to wrap some presents for posting - but we're planning to courier them instead of using RM.
So, whilst we're still running a little behind schedule, by tomorrow afternoon we hope to be in a position to move the furniture back in, followed by finally putting the tree up 🎄🌲🎄 just in time for the World Cup final.
Hope everyone's Christmas plans are coming together 😊5 -
Hello Ladies,
A very sad update. One of the black women who were critically ill in hospital after the crush outside Brixton 02 has died. I feel so upset. My thoughts are with her family.
I still do not understand what went so horrifically wrong. The 2 previous nights were also sell out gigs for the same artist and they went as expected without any kind of minor incident.4 -
chanie said:i love buying xmas gifts, but i’ve culled a few more people off our list this year, due to costs. i’m quite far behind with gifts this year as our building works were so time consuming and expensive. Me and OH have agreed not to buy each other presents this year and just focus on everyone else.
a bit of house fabbing…… i have been on the lookout for a side table and i was driving past a second hand furniture shop, when i saw this table. The shop owner told me he thought it was G plan and i nodded like i knew what he was talking about and snapped it up for £20. A quick online search later told me that g plan was a popular furniture brand in the 60s and all the hipsters are buying it now. This table was part of a nest of tables and i’ve seen the whole set online for £100+.6 -
Hi everyone.
I hope you don’t mind, I’ve just joined you at the end, I’ve been on MSE for years but only just seen this.
The phrases “frump to fabulous “ and “radical transformation” caught my eye. 2021/2022 haven’t been the best for me.Like so many I’ve struggled with my weight for years. Earlier this year I had a light bulb moment and was determined to lose it. I started on a low carb diet which my GP and diabetes nurse are fans of. I ate lots more fruit and veg than I’ve done in the past and cut out bread, rice and pasta. I’ve never been a big potato fan. It’s been a struggle sometimes particularly when I wanted a snack or lunch out as low carb options are not easy to find.
I recorded my weight loss on an app which can display it as a list or a graph. I’ve now lost 29 kg. My GP was ecstatic when I told him in a phone appointment.
I’ve always been a clothes hoarder and have boxes of clothes in 4 sizes. Thank god I kept them. I’ve now got a brand new wardrobe and have gone from 22 to 16.I can get into a pair of jeans I bought in the USA at least 30 years ago and hadn’t worn much until last week. I can bear to look in a full length mirror now and have received loads of compliments. It’s certainly a radical transformation. I’m off to Clark’s Village (shopping outlet village near Glastonbury) to stock up M & S underwear, my knickers are falling off.
Thanks for reading and inspiring me to post this7 -

It was such a horrible thing to happen at Brixton.
Welcome to Murphybear. Well done on the weight loss.4 -
Terribly sad news, Sugarbaby - I hope the other young women that were injured pull through.
Murphybear, welcome to the thread and wow on your weight loss 😁
We're cracking on with the house fabbing today and - after a minor setback yesterday when we had to change our plans for the saniflo pipework - we are almost ready to start setting up the extension end of the living room now!
