Don't think of it as 'me, me' @helensbiggestfan. I think by sharing what we do on the fabbing front whether it's pluses or minuses then we are sharing ideas which others can take up or adapt to suit or ignore if wished! I really love hearing about what everyone is up to. 😁
I can't say I've got any big plans or resolutions (yet) for 2022. I'd love to start travelling again but at the moment it looks like a lot of hassle. A friend took almost 3 hours of bureaucracy and tests to get into Singapore yesterday to visit family. Fortunately she's there for a month but the idea of a city break with loads of testing puts me right off. I have a holiday booked for June (rolled forward from 2020 and 2021) so 🤞🏼.
I'm pleased that everything is getting back to normal as of yesterday. I think what I'll do is carry on all the good habits I've picked up from here and then introduce new ones when I'm ready. I really think if I try to change/introduce too much at once then I won't do anything properly.
Yesterday was my first day back with healthy eating. I've had two weeks of too much chocolate, wine and cheese so chose yesterday as the day to get back to normal eating. We managed a walk yesterday and tonight my dancing class restarts. I also finished my library book (Sathnam Sanghera's Empireland). Reading more is definitely on the cards.
I know where you're coming from with beauty products @helensbiggestfan. I think it's OK to try new or cheaper ranges and they can be successful but I don't begrudge myself my bigger ticket items. This morning I've showered, creamed all over and followed my usual routine of serum, moisturiser and eye cream. I'll be choosing an outfit for dancing later, hope my skirts all fit! 🤣 One thing I have started using is a microfibre cloth for removing make up rather than cotton pads. It's great, even removes mascara with just warm water. I need to buy a laundry bag that stops the bits going into the drains IYKWIM but otherwise I'm delighted with it.
Back soon. 😊6 -
leftatthetrafficlights said:Twisted my knee yesterday morning so didn't manage a walk or my yoga 🙈 it's still not great today so decided - after watching more of the 30 day 'move' programme of adriene- that I need to be easing myself into my healthy lifestyle!!
As a result, I've done adriene's 20min complete beginners practice this morning and I'll stick with that for a few weeks before I move onto her longer beginners stuff - I'm aiming to be able to do the 'move' programme in December then whatever she brings out next January 😉 this is a long term plan so I need to be realistic - it's taken decades to get this unfit and unhealthy, I can't change it overnight! Marathon not sprint springs to mind!!
With the knee being ropey my lunchtime walk will be a short one but I'll still do it 😊
I've dry-skin brushed, showered and moisturised this morning, sprayed perfume and am just about to go downstairs to take my supplements and have a smoothie- a good start to my day! 😊

It's really about going at your own pace - I know that if I try the 'Move' one I'll just get disheartened and give up so it's much better just to build up slowly and be consistent imo 😉DNF: £708.92/£1000

Hi all, happy new thread. 🙂 Another long time lurker/occasional poster here.
My word for this year is going to be Consistency. I need to keep up any good habits I form!I tend to get tired and give up but since June last year I’ve been exercising most days, trying to cut down on eating rubbish and have lost 13lbs.I need to keep it up as I still need to lose another 20lbs or so.
I’m generally doing at least 30 mins of walking a day - usually Get Fit With Rick on y0utube as I can’t always get out with working shifts, a DH who works shifts & a 4yo DS and 2yo DD.
I want to get back into doing yoga regularly, at least twice a week to begin with.I have done Yoga with Adriene for years and also like Yoga with Kassandra.Kassandra does a series of evening yoga videos which are very relaxing but still stretching everything out. I did those every night for a month & enjoyed them but fell out of the habit (consistency!!).
I’m also doing Intermittent Fasting to help with the weight loss. I’ve managed roughly 12:12 for a while so am aiming to move up to 14:10 now.
Up at 5am tomorrow for work so need to get a move on if I want to do some yoga then shower before bed.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.6 -
Hello Ladies,
Sports Direct let me down, 24 hours after I had paid for the Slazenger trainers and they had taken my payment. They informed me by email that the trainers were no longer in stock. What a disappointment! Never mind, I can make do with the trainers I own, until I feel up to going to a Sports Direct store and to buy a new pair of inexpensive leather trainers.
I received my full refund yesterday.

Good Mornjng lovely ladies. How are we all. Lovely to see new faces, welcome and always lovely to see returners. Welcome back into the fold. Thanks for the yoga tips, I will look up Adrienne. Some great motivational words too.Sukey, change is good, it keeps us on our toes and helps keep our brain youthful, changing and evolving to be the best we can be.Sasky your word "consistency". Yes!! So often we start so well in a rush of enthusiasm and excitement and then somehow lose motivation but consistency is the key to success in any endeavour. Sometimes we do need to take a break but the secret is to not give up, to get back on it. If we are consistent then our efforts will be rewarded.I had to confess I have got off to a very slow start this year. Just so tired and of course my tummy upset didn't help. But after going back into healthy eating mode I'm starting to see some improvement, I'm sleeping better and my digestive system is improving. My skin is happier too, the dermologica products are definitely helping. Cold winter winds and central heating play havoc with my skin. I must up my water intake and I will add some evening primrose oil capsules to my vitamin regime.Bitterly cold here today. Christmas decorations are down now so today I will finish the post Christmas clear up, do some laundry, and then give myself a few at home treatments, eyebrows, deep cleanse and mini skin peel. Not sure if I will manage a walk, very cold and my knee hurts. Will do some kitchen dancing instead. And of course extreme housework is a good workout. 😂9

Morning all. Jumping in. Been planning to join you all this year as I want to make this my year. I left my ex partner in August 2020 and have been trying to settle ever since. Despite haemorrhaging money on legal bills he refuses to settle. All my money is tied up in a jointly owned property, I didn't make proper pension provision as I thought we would be together for ever and he was stashing his cash while I paid off the mortgage. Not married. My confidence eroded and I hit an all time low. Planning for 2022 to be the year it all works for me.
Sadly the year did not start with a positive energy burst but with what I think might be flu and the return of headaches so severe I can barely move. Thankfully the VNM (Very Nice Man) I have been seeing recently turned up to help out. Today is the first day i've been able to stand since the 1st. Am going to see if a local osteopath can fit me in soonish to see if that can help. Finding a good osteopath or similar will be the first step on the journey to fab as i have quite a lot of injury related pains (accidents over the years).
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!10 -
helensbiggestfan said:One good thing.....I have improved my skin care. I guess I kept trying to save money but a couple of weeks ago my skin was so sore and sensitive I thought this is silly. So I had a little splurge and bought a starter pack of Dermologica lotions and potions. My skin is so grateful. I've learned my lesson. No more false economy. I will be buying full sized products. I wont waste all unsuitable creams I tried, i can use them up on my dry knees and elbows.7

Hello fabbers, I have started several times to write my plans for this year with fabbing but never get to finsh it as I am interrupted. I love the adition of 'the big one' on the thread title as I feel that this year is a big year for me. I've struggled over the last 2 years (as everyone has) and 2021 was one of the most difficult years in a long time. I feel like I've almost given up bothering with looking good. I make a bit of effort if I am going to work but at weekends it's old leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. Most weekends I don't even bother doing my hair or washing my face. So it's time to take myself in hand and make some major changes.
I am going to borrow 'Radical Transformation' if that's ok as my mantra for the year. A change of attitude, behaviour and openness to new experiences is needed.
First off weight loss. This has been my one thing I 'focus' on and tie myself up in knots with various rules/diets etc. This year all food restrictions are gone and I will follow a mindful eating programme and focus on learning to trust my bodies hunger and fullness signals. This is the only way that doesn't mess with my head and is sustainable long term for me.
I turn 50 in November and want to look and feel better about myself. Consistent skincare, a style upgrade, and a lifestyle overhaul are all on the cards. I have started by looking up some videos on You tube about having a Glow Up and about Style over 40 which have given me some great ideas.
The lifestyle overhaul begins now and I have started off by booking a meal out for me and OH on Friday evening. The first in a long time.8
