Good heavens! This is a really complex chain - but since you're the ones who're paying attention to what you want and to what else is going on, you're the ones who'll stay the course and get what's right for you. Good luck!2023: the year I get to buy a car1

Sounds very stressful! But, it does sound as if you are doing the best thing by keeping your options open. A sale with no chain sounds amazing. The eco house sounds interesting and very well located. As Kirstie says, location, location, location. If you get the flat all well and good as it is beautiful but it is nice to have optionsIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. The French news is normally pretty spot on so I think the eco home owners will be well aware of the current situation here.

Hi all, just checking in because another month has passed and we have some news
Our purchase is ticking along nicely enough, we got our searches back (all positive) and are expecting our survey report in the next couple of days. Our lender has requested a few extra documents, but we're hoping those are all good and that they'll issue the offer sooner rather than later.
There was a bit of a delay with exchanging on our sale because our buyer's buyer's lender insisted on a new set of searches. Those came back on Wednesday, so hopefully they are all good to go and ready to exchange this coming week. We've settled on the 21st of December as the completion date. So now we're just trying to play catch-up with our purchase, but if we can't tie it in with completion on the same date then we'll just stay with friends and family for a few weeks and then airbnb.
The real reason I'm posting: I just realised we are technically mortgage neutral! Ok, we'd have to dip into our emergency fund, but right now we could pay off our mortgage and still have £5k leftover. It feels great, even though real mortgage freedom is looking pretty far away given our move!
I hope you're all doing well, and will keep you posted on our progress5
