Thanks so much @powerspowers
Feels a bit like buses, a whole lot of waiting and then progress in several areas all at once.

We got the allotment! Got offered our first choice, the bramble plot. Very excited. We just signed the contracts, so should hopefully get the keys sooner rather than later.

Thank you all so much! We're planning on heading up to the site tomorrow, they've got an open day. That is if I'm feeling a bit better - we went to an absolutely amazing gig in London on Monday and I'm feeling a bit pants now so may have caught something there, still testing negative for covid at the moment but sure have all the main symptoms today.1

Just thought I'd post an update - we got the keys to our allotment about a month ago and it's been such a joy
We've built 3 big raised beds so far, done a bit of landscaping basically, but there's still lots and lots to do. We'll also get a shed delivered end of the month
On the purchase front, I might as well paste in what I've written in the 'waiting to exchange' thread.julicorn said:It's getting more serious for our chain at the moment. 6 properties total, probate at the top - it was always going to be a bit of a tricky one.
Latest problem: Both our and our vendor's mortgage offers expire at the end of September, with no way to extend further. With how much mortgage rates have risen, we'd be looking at £400/month extra in interest for a new offer, which is... well, a lot. Similar figure for our vendor, who's now also said she'd have to reconsider moving if it came to that.
So the clock is ticking fairly loudly. Probate was initially expected to be granted end of July, now the EA's estimate is end of August. We're just pushing to make sure everyone has all their legal work sorted by the time probate is granted, and keeping all fingers and toes crossed in the meantime.
We shall see what happens.1 -
Pleased for you re the allotmentIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
