Thanks so much @Cornish_mum!
We went to the allotment site yesterday, which was pretty cool. There are 4 plots on offer, 3 right by the entrance that are super overgrown (haven't been looked after as long as anyone on the site can remember), on a relatively steep hill and not terraced yet. Those plots were top of the hill, middle and bottom (by the path), all a bit of a faff to get to, but absolutely incredible views from the top. The fourth plot was a slightly smaller one that has been used more recently, but has a lot of bramble roots on it at the moment. Again, a bit of a faff to get to.
Needless to say, we've thrown caution into the wind and our hat in the ring! There were 4 other interested parties there yesterday, and they had also had invited people to view on Wednesday, so who knows whether we'll get one of them. They got us to fill in a form on the spot to rank the plots in our order of preference, so we went bramble > top > middle > bottom. I hope we'll find out soon whether we got one. It was quite amusing with the other people there, got that sense of competition that was all too familiar from running into other viewers when we were looking for a house earlier this year!
Mr julicorn did the practical weighing up of pros and cons, I basically just went with 'the feeling' (the bramble-y plot was really cute and a little more sheltered/private), so it was good we were both there.
We also went to a garden centre and had some lovely vegan cake & scones, and then onto a wood recycling shop (we might need some pallets / boards for building beds and compost bins and all that fun stuff), so yeah, it was a super lovely day.
I hope you're all having a great weekend too3 -
