I'm glad she was okay about it - and as powers says, it's so early in the process, no one will have incurred any costs.  Just bask in the glow of that new flat!

Congratulations @julicorn. Is the chain complete? I hope all progresses well. I can stop stalking East Sussex Rightmove now 😂

Oh I wish! Unfortunately the seller still has to find somewhere, but we'll just make a start on the progress anyway and hope the chain doesn't get totally out of hand. If it does though, we're still open to renting for a bit.

I'm also quite looking forward to a bit of a break from Rightmove, haha :D

Thank you for checking in 🥰 nothing huge to report here. I think the survey/valuation was scheduled for today, so we'll hear back from that soon I hope. I believe the seller is still looking for somewhere to buy, has made some offers already but I don't think she's had any luck so far. Can't blame her, the market is quite something at the moment.
We went to a wedding in Hereford on Sunday, that was lovely. We were travelling back pretty much all day yesterday though, so I'm still a little tired today. Ah well, short week!
I hope you are doing well ❤

That's good to hear from you, I'm glad the process is rolling along.  I'm good myself - been doing a lot (for me) in the house, so I'm quite tired, but it's working!

That sounds pretty fabulous - always exhausting, but nice to see the progress, isn't it?

We already got our homebuyers report through just now, that was so quick! We got it done yesterday at the same time as the mortgage valuation. The report is really great actually, almost all rating 1, only one 2 (windows, doesn't surprise me), but all seems to be in good nick for the age of the property. They also valued it at the full price (£525k), which is fantastic - I was a bit concerned it might be lower seeing that we had to offer so much above the asking price. Also nice to see photos of the loft space, it looks huge.

The searches have also just been ordered, so all ticking along quite nicely. Apart from the chain not being complete yet, but honestly I'd rather get us in a good position now than to put everything on hold for the time being.

Yep, with all these little jobs I'm doing in the house, my standard of living is definitely going up!

The report sounds good - excellent to see a photo of the loft, thats helpful.

Our mortgage offer got issued, yay!
We also got a copy of the lease through. It sounds to me like the roof is actually demised to the flat, but with shared responsibility to pay for the upkeep. We're also only responsible for a third of all shared costs, which again seems odd given that the maisonette is far bigger than the other two flats. In general, it all reads less restrictive and more in our favour than our current lease, but I've asked our solicitor to clarify a few points (like the ones above) because 1960s legal English isn't exactly my forté 😂

That sounds great!  As to 1960s legal English, yikes!  :D
