I only use the iron for cross stitch pictures, to get them nice before framing 😁
My husband uses it for his shirts occasionally but generally wears a waistcoat so he only has to iron sleeves and round the collar.

Never separate colours in the wash, though we do run a separate wool wash for some clothes that are a bit more delicate.

Didn't think I needed to give Mr S lessons on laundry before I left for 4 months in the Falklands.....

When I got back, he said that he had sorted the washing into bedding, towels, outerwear and underwear.  So far so good, except I had accidentally left a new, very expensive, white bra in the laundry basket.  That had gone in with his black underpants and socks.....

    Hi,
jings, are you folks clarty or just lazy.
I iron my bedding and towels, fold neatly then put in airing cupboard.
Must be the younger generation, who live on ready meals rather than make a good pot of soup, or mince an tatties.
I don't want to waste my free time ironing bedding/towels or cook meals, work roughly 10 hours. a day, and the last thing I want to do are these.

I have to find this trick of not ironing clothes, most of my clothes are creased and need too.
  • OK everyone, please enlighten me as to how to stop ironing.  I work so have work trousers, dresses and blouses.  I can't seem to get away with 'not/minimal' ironing - so maybe it's my technique that's not up to scratch.  I'm ready/willing to learn...........

My BIL is a funeral undertaker, their jackets never come off in a funeral, my sister only irons the parts on show.  The back and sleeves of his shirts are not ironed.

Put on coat hangers to dry, buy non-iron clothes. It's the way I've done it for nearly 30 years.

I iron cotton stuff. We love  crisp sheets on the bed. Why would anyone iron towels?  That would flatten the loops.

I had a new iron in September. It's very heavy and makes light work of the job. Far better than a lightweight one.
