Gah! Bloody memory modules failed again on iMac. Nevermind, I'm back now, thanks for reply.Coupon-mad said:Looks OK. Just attend both. It's obvious what to say at the 20 minute one!
So is that a new thing this conciliation thing or have you seen/heard of it before?
By obvious, I assume you mean I just say I'm not paying and let's get to the hearing...0 -
By obvious, I assume you mean I just say I'm not paying and let's get to the hearing...Yes indeed.
If the rookie Judge puts pressure on you and says you have no case, state that you have several grounds and certainly intend your defence to be heard if the bullyboy claimants don't discontinue, because it's them who have no case and have exaggerated the meritless claim.
Yes we have threads about tedious 'Directions Hearings'. Waste of time unless the Judge gets it that parking cases are usually so crap their case falls over like a house of cards, the minute someone blows on it.

Just to keep you informed, I went to the conciliation meeting, told the solicitor I'm not paying anything and then had to sit in court for the full 20 minutes while the judge basically scratched his head and pointed out to the solicitor that as I had a pre existing right to park he could not work out why they were persisting in pursuing this.He also said, given we were all there, that they should at least make an offer of settlement but the solicitor said they had been told to request the full amount. The judge raised his eyes and, shook his head, and suggested they come up with something, to which the solicitor replied they had no authority. So the judge told them to step outside and make a phone call but they retuned a few minutes later saying they could not get an answer.
The judge was clearly on my side, so let's hope they feel the same when it comes to the remote hearing. Laughably, just before we left, the solicitor requested that the judge would not be allowed to sit on the main hearing. He laughed again, and said don't worry, it would be different people.5 -
Sounds positive. Checking Courtserve, glad you didn't have the Judge from Portsmouth I had a few years ago!2

Courtserve is an online system where you can look up pending cases at different courts and find out information including the name of the judge.
From memory, Taiko's judge ignored facts and found for the claimant, and allowed the fake add on debt recovery charges that we know were never incurred. It's called judge bingo.

That's correct. I unfortunately lost on the judge bingo front, but that was DDJ Dack. Looking at the listings from the other day, I think you had a different one who definitely seems more on the ball.3

Same judge, awarded for claimant0 -
So sorry. He even thought the false added £60 wasn't extortion. What a terrible Judge. Which court area does he cover?
Especially bad luck, given your first Judge was very good and second one useless:I went to the conciliation meeting, told the solicitor I'm not paying anything and then had to sit in court for the full 20 minutes while the judge basically scratched his head and pointed out to the solicitor that as I had a pre existing right to park he could not work out why they were persisting in pursuing this. What on earth did DDJ Dack say at this hearing, about your pre-existing right to park?PRIVATE 'PCN'?
