2022 Fashion On The Ration Challenge

I'm not sure where I got up to with my coupons, so I'm recalculating them for the year!

Purchases:

• 6x underwear (12 coupons)
  
• 1x charity t-shirt (5 coupons)
  
• 1x long skirt (7 coupons)
• 2x socks (2 coupons)
  

Total 26 coupons spent.

I found myself a long skirt at last.  It's practically impossible when you are short and I just don't have the sewing skills so sadly had to buy it new.  However, it should work for work, smart occasions and casual occasions, so hopefully it will get lots of use.  I also have a few pairs of shorts coming for the summer (I have zero) which again I had to buy new as I've given up after months of looking for second hand.  I did buy them as ethically as I could and I am currently trying to get clothes using the best natural materials that I can (even if second hand).  Will only add the coupons for these once they arrive and I confirm they fit!

Interestingly we are about 1/3 through the year and I've used a bit more than 1/3 of my coupons.  However, I knew this year (and maybe next depending on when DD actually decides to stop bf) will have higher use than usual as I will need to change out all my undergarments!

Gem - your crocheted animals are lovely, they can be quite addictive!!!

I have seen a crocheted cardigan made of squares, with a cuff, ribbing and button front that looks doable, apparently Harry Styles has a designer one and the lady replicated it. I was thinking of looking how much dk I had in stash to make one for next winter, it would definitely be an in-house one only!!

Hi, it seems like quite a while since I posted.

I have a couple of purchases to declare - a silk underslip which, with a bit of careful cutting I hope to make into a camisole-style top and the basis of a tiered skirt. That was sold as second-hand so no coupons. The other was a vintage chinese-style jacket with chinese silk embroidery at the front - fits me as though it was made for me. Although technically second-hand, it was from a vintage shop, so I'm taking it as couponed (just need to go back and find out how many).

My friend has just given me 200g of yarn to make DGD a dress! So kind of her and no coupons as she bought too much for a project she made a while ago. Now I can't not make the little dress I had my eye on. It will be new skills time again as there's a lacy panel.

I've just spent the evening with two yarn-loving friends and am amazed at the things they make. Not good news for the stash, which is almost bound to increase under these circumstances.

Morning, all! Hurrah, I no longer have the plague! Unhurrah, my new husband now does... but he says he still doesn't feel actually ill, and when I asked if he would take time off work to rest, he just looked puzzled Fingers crossed... I'm following everyone's advice re forcibly-slow recovery...

Congratulations on being plague free @Laura_Elsewhere sorry to hear that Mr E is now plague ridden. Hopefully he doesn’t end up too poorly.

Thankyou all - we're both doing okay still

I'm making myself have forced bed-rest twice in the mornings and twice in the afternoons, to avoid overdoing things too soon, and am using the time to hand-sew a camisole from materials I already have - a length of unbleached linen, some small red buttons, and a yoke I crocheted last year in silk thread and dyed red
