Re suitcase pyjamas - my mum does have just those things - a pair of very lightweight pyjamas that, on their return, get washed, dried, folded and put away back in the suitcase. But my parents are lifelong academics so they are both very very good at packing reliably for anything from six months in another continent to a short-notice overnighter in the UK.
My autism means I'm a bit of an anxious wee soul at the best of times so my packing tends to be done very carefully. However, it also means I'm a creature of habit, so it's not difficult for me to pack2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

The things I couldn’t be without… Yes I used to be a “passport tickets and credit card, you can buy anything else“ girl. Sadly advancing age now means I have to add medication to the list, and lately my hearing aid charger. You can get a phone charger at the airport but…Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.5

florianatwobob said:@Cherryfudge pyjamas are my packing nemesis. I’m seriously considering designating a pair as ‘suitcase pyjamas’ as I’ve nearly forgotten them that many times. I definitely don’t think sleeping in the nuddy in a strange place is an option.
Moreso when I’ve been in hotels with impromptu midnight fire alarms and minor earthquakes (the earthquake was in Telford, nowhere exciting).
I got packing cubes a few years ago and I too can recommend them. One does permanent duty to keep all charging leads and plugs together because if I go anywhere, those come with me. Others are in a suitcase waiting for holidays. I've got out of the way of travel so I forgot them this time.
They are one of those things that might easily be home made in the form of a set of drawstring bags but someone had a bright idea and made them cubic and zippable which is neater. Very handy either way.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

We don't have packing cubes, but we do use drawstring bags in various sizes and colours, which I find makes packing and unpacking easier and on those occasions where i am literally living out of my suitcase they are invaluable.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

As a veteran traveller for work, I have a small suitcase that is almost always on standby. "Junior" has a 25L capacity, with an expandable front that adds another 10L; 46cm/18 inches high, 34cm/13.5 inches wide, 19cm/8 inches deep with an additional 5cm/2 inches available. It's permanent contents are a phone/iPad charger, thin pyjamas, dressing gown, slippers, and a European plug adapter. This is Junior, fully laden for a week at Site:
Junior is small enough to be used as carry-on luggage, so limiting liquids has always been a big consideration. My travel toiletries bag was a "gift" from Clinique and gets topped up after each trip and contains 100ml bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner, travel talc, folding toothbrush, 50ml toothpaste, floss, spare drugs in a ziplock bag, another small ziploc containing cotton wool pads, a comb, a travel-sized bottle of clarifying lotion and a small jar of moisturiser. (Thank you Clinique for the latter two items.) It doesn't include hand cream or chap-stick because they always live in my handbag.
My travel makeup bag is another Clinique "gift" but is considerably smaller. Travel makeup of choice is an all-in-one Covergirl powder foundation (similar to this one), a powder blusher, a Clinique sample-sized mascara, tweezers, scissors, a tiny lip brush and a bottle of Lipcoat. (My lipstick lives in my handbag.)
Both of the above photos come from a blog post from 2009. Back then, I'd regularly fly to Amsterdam or Glasgow for work, as well as driving 260 miles to Site each month to spend the week there.

ETA, I'm one who has been caught sleeping naked when the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Never again."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

We always seem to pack light, well under the limit we're allowed on the planes. The expression on the checking in girl's face when we handed in half the single person's allowance for the pair of us to go to Iceland was unforgettable!

Evening All
I have recently purchased some packing cubes for OH when he takes eldest 2 to Spain at Easter. Have sorted out decanting the toiletries and a streamlined medical kit which contains prescription and other essentials. OH is accident prone, in the past week has pulled ligaments, had a fragment of metal removed from his eye and hit his nose with a screwdriver!
Due to having covid and having to isolate (I'm in Wales) I have sorted through my wardrobe and found items I had completely forgotten about and an awful lot still with price tags on. I honestly need very little if anything. I need to curb the clothes spends and wear what I have.
Possible things that need replacing new bras, I'm losing weight but will see what smaller sizes I have first. A supportive swimsuit, a pair of daps for summer and maybe sandals. Cheaper footwear is a false economy for me now.
