@white-rabbit_2-2, oh gosh, that was you! I kept thinking there were more of us in the Hall here!
Nice to see you at lastDo come out of that corner and have one of the chairs nearer the stove - I do like your idea for what to do with your spare 'sirensuit'...
(Light-heartedness aside, it's always lovely to have people come and post!I expect we may get a few more refugees arriving in Much Mending on the Borrow this autumn...)

@thriftwizard - I had totally missed your post! Welcome back to Much Mending. Those jackets are stunning. The patchwork one looks very “designer”.@Gem-gem, yes, me. In my case, they clothes are there because I have put on weight. I’d swear it’s all gone around my waist. The difference for me between a UK size 12 and a UK size 14 is about 5lb, all on my waist.white-rabbit_2-2 said:I have been lurking in the background for many years but a combination of I’ll health and having more time on my hands has allowed me to lurk a little longer. I’ve love hearing all of your finds and redesignsI was a size 16 and am hovering around a 14 so I decided to do my first recycling project of a jumpsuit into a pair of trousers and a little crop wrap over. I’m trying to get another few wards out of something I would normally have charity shopped. I’m trying minimise my spend on clothes and hence I have lurked on this board for years.I’m nowhere near as accomplished as @gem-gem but it’s a start…

I finally got round to updating my signature with 10 coupon spend for the jazzed up sweatshirt and then I bought myself a pair of Van hi tops, so that would put me on 27, but I fear somewhere along the line I might have missed something so I've taken another 10 coupons off myself.
I know I've bought a lot secondhand of late so I feel like I'm getting a lot more clothes in so maybe that's tricking my brain but in case I have forgotten a new purchase, that 10 should cover it.
In further news.
The dungarees I ordered new are being returned so I didnt take those coupons off till I knew I was keeping them. Unfortunately just not the right fit for my squat frame, shame as I ordered the pattern.
But I have scored secondhand online three boiler/jump suits, one in a black cotton - which I may adorn with my cricut machine but currently deciding if it looks vintage black or if I want to redye it....
Another is a lovely teal green corduroy (from the photos at least, I'm just waiting on it arriving).
Lastly a black and white tartan....

Thank everyone for such a warm welcome… I would love to pull up a chair! You all sound like such a fabulous bunch 😊
I have wayyyy too many clothes but all classic stuff that I don’t want to donate but remodel. Not that I’m stingy I’m just working towards retiring early (I’ve not been very well and I have a high pressure job) but also I hate the situation with clothes being dumped.I’ve been seesawing between minimalism and making my clothes wrk for me. Any advice is really appreciated. Do I get rid, or keep and remodel??22 coupons until 2023
£200/£200 January grocery challenge…. But with a stacked fridge cupboard and freezer8 -
@white-rabbit_2-2, I would keep and remodel the ones which you really love, which you can never replace, can never afford to buy again, which make you smile just to look at them...
Ditch anything that never worked, never looked right, never felt right, is poor quality, is easily replaceable should you realise later on you wanted it (like say jeans).
Now.... how do I make those decisions myself...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

I don’t know what demographic John Lewis is targeting these days but for sure it’s not their traditional loyal customer base. And I am so sick of seeing a sea of slob in every clothes shop I go into.
Pip, the stall holders all put their prices up at Ally Pally because they are charged so much by the organizers. You’d be better off looking in Goldhawk Road - fabric heaven! There are also a few decent hobby stalls in Shepherd’s Bush market but otherwise it’s internet shopping. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!6 -
Hi all, I have been in a sorry state today. I had my 4th jab yesterday and have had a reaction for the first time. Temperature all over the place, alterating shivering and sweating and aching joints. It came on about 3 hours after the jab and continued today. I have been lounging listening to radio 4 with bouts of sleeping and taking paracetamol. I am just about coming to the end of it I think.
@PipneyJane, yes those flowers must have come from Leeds, it is their club badge. There are probably lots from other football clubs and other sporting clubs. You are probably not old enough to remember when the Queen used to attend the FA cup final and when she handed it over to other royals the players were quite upset. As for fashion all I can say that I rarely take any notice of it. I have reached an age where I wear what I am confortable with. Having said that I quite like oxford bagsVery disappointing that you couldn't get a suit pattern though, could you try to use a pattern for a jacket and a pattern for a shirt and or trousers. I remember my Mum had some sort of system to make her own patterns but I have no idea what it was.
@thriftwizard, I absolutely love both of those jackets and would readily wear both, they are inspirational and the fact that they have been made using recycled materials is also inspirationallovely to see you back.
@white-rabbit_2-2, welcome, this is a lovely group and very supportive to everybody.
Take care everyone9 -
Welcome @white-rabbit_2-2.
Have a biscuit? And would anyone like some cocoa? It's a bit chilly this evening.
