So today I resisted the urge to resign. Following a PE last week I’ve been wondering if there is more to life than being on the corporate ladder.
then I had a wee and noticed I had holes in my pants…so best keep on working for a bit. I may need to use some of my coupons!!I LOVE a proper wool jumper. One of my biggest regrets is saying no to my nanas handknit Aran cardi when she passed. Craft ship like that is so rare these days and even the Aran wool has polyester in it. Thankfully I have wool base layers which I shall be wearing all winter in a bid to keep the heating off.22 coupons until 2023

OOh I love the thin layers, I call it being a little onion (I, however, am far from little
) it also helps keep the "bulk" down. I have a bit of a penchant for cashmere I have built up over many years primarily from the CS and some vintage ones that were my mothers. I am now working on how to repair some which are very fine wool. They will also go with my linen dresses that I intend to wear through winter too.

Last week I bought a 100% wool jumper from a charity shop for £1.49; it had a tiny hole in the back, just above the ribbing, but a couple of stitches later and it's good to go.6

I'm very envious of anyone who can find wool jumpers in their local charity shops, they're as rare as hen's teeth! I prefer natural fabrics but to be honest I think layers are layers, and it doesn't matter too much what they're made from, it's trapping air between them.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.5

Hi all, feeling much better
As far as wardrobes go I have a sort of summer wardrobe that has things like shorts and cut offs while in the winter it is long trousers but the rest is t shirts and then layers on top. Sandals in the summer and shoes or trainers in the winter. I don't have any proper boots except walking boots and wellies and with our climate they can be in use at any time of the year
Take care everyone6 -
Hello, on the topic of natural fibres I bought my OH 2 merino base layer tops in the sale, he works outside and says they keep him just right. Will be keeping an eye out for more bargains as he needs a clean set every day.
I find jumpers and hoodie made from fleece keep me much warmer than cotton during colder months but can't really wear to the office so another one who wear layers and with aircon the temperature fluctuates a lot.

I am another who prefers wool but I once spent several months looking for wool garments in lots of different cs for a dt project and didn't find a single thing. As PollyWollyDoodle says they are as rare as hens teeth

It’s a cold old day here but it’s been a productive day. I’ve managed to set aside a pair of shoes and three dresses for the charity shop. Thought about trying to redesign one of the dresses but the fabric would be difficult to work with and I’m not an experienced seamstress.Have been looking at wool things on line.. the prices are extortionate!22 coupons until 2023

White rabbit, it's probably not worth your while then. I'm not an experienced seamstress either, and whenever I've tried anything like that in the past, I've never been happy with the results and ended up not wearing it anyway. It may be better gifted to the charity shop.

Good morning All
Brrrr….. It’s cold. Although that might just be me. I seem to have lost all temperature-regulation abilities recently; either I’m having the chills and am freezing cold regardless of the temperature outside, or I’m having a very hot flush and feel like I’m in Singapore. (Yes, I am menopausal. I started having hot flushes 2 years ago but not the chills. Perfect timing for winter 2020, which started early.)
On the subject of wool: in the spring sales, check out ski shops for woollen undergarments. I have bias cut pure wool long-johns which are lovely, warm and don’t bag. They were’t cheap, though, hence my suggestion re the sales.
@white-rabbit_2-2 (and anyone else), if you want to learn to knit or crochet, come and sit with me and @Laura_Elsewhere by the wood-fire stove. We will help you. My recommendation, once you’ve learned the basic actions, is to take a very large ball of a smooth, cheap yarn and knit/crochet until it runs out, without trying to make anything, just to get the rhythm of the stitches and to learn muscle memory. (Also, your tension won’t settle down until you’ve done a few hundred rows.). Once you’ve done that, then you can buy the good stuff and make garments with it.
Is knitting wool - real wool - expensive? Not necessarily. The jumper I will be wearing today cost less than £20 to make. Admittedly, it’s knitted in sock yarn (75% wool, 25% nylon), so not pure wool but that’s the lowest percentage of natural fibre I will work with.
