This is why I always wear long trousers, socks, and boots when walking the dogs. I have severe reactions to antibiotics so don't take any chances. Hope you feel better soon.
(Please note use of Oxford comma in defiance of the new Health Secretary's dictat; I've retired from the NHS but still! My sister in law is a health visitor and has started using it,as have her colleagues)7 -
@Nonnadiluca, the daft thing is that I am *really* naggy to Mr E about tucking his trousers into long socks when we go hiking, and I always wear tick-proof legwear... I just totally failed to remember that you get ticks in woodland as well, so the first few months I went swimming at the quarry I was sitting on a fallen tree-trunk with ivy growing thickly right up to it and in the dry weather I was even putting my clothes down on the ivy while I dried! Asking for it, in retrospect...!
I am impressed, pleased, and gleefully inspired by you and your SiL's adoption of the Oxford comma and shall be using it myself now!
In America, I dread to think how much I'd have paid for my 3 weeks of antibiotics and whether I might have delayed going to a doctor because of the cost... the NHS has (yet again) saved me a lot of pain and debility!NHS

Goodness Laura - I didn't realise how bad Lyme's Disease is! As you say - the NHS is wonderful. (I know it has its weak points but the skill and care available free at point of use - wow).

Good morning everyone,
My navy work trousers are beginning to thin at a certain place in the legs. I went to Regent Street to see if I could replace them and alas, my normal size was too tight across certain areas and the next size up was far too big. Normally, I would have bought that didn't quite fit and say that I will slim down. (I have several items in my wardrobe that if I was a stone lighter would fit). This time, I have decided that I need to lose weight first, then buy them. When I got home, I discovered that my jeans that I was wearing have also worn thin and in fact have developed a hole. Once again, these are a little tight on me at the moment.I am fed up...but I am the only one to blame...due to one thing or another, I haven't moved enough over the summer, and have put weight on. So, I am not going to wallow in self pity. Plan of action:
1. Wear navy skirt, identify other clothes suitable for work, until new pair of navy trousers can be bought.2. Wear holey jeans indoors. Last pair of good jeans when going out.3. Lose some weight/move more!
4. Buy new jeans and work trousers next year, when new coupon allowance has been released. And I can fit into my normal size.Does anyone else have clothes in their wardrobe that don't fit? That they previously ( before this challenge) bought small, that they were going to lose weight to get into?2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I think having clothes just a little bit too small in the wardrobe is part of the female condition! I've never met anyone who doesn't, even my size 8/10 DD has things that are just waiting for her to lose a few pounds.7

Ooops - 300-odd posts to catch up on is really totally daft. It's been a manic summer! Sorry to hear about the tick-bite, @Laura_Elsewhere; they are sneaky little beggars. We've managed to offload two offspring this month - one of them only temporarily, though - and it's amazing to find that I seem to have some spare time, if not space yet. Which has resulted in an explosion of creativity, if not (yet) any new HM knickers. Several pairs of curtains have found themselves with "new" linings, cut out of old duvet covers & I've made a totally mad jacket out of old shirts & some curtain offcuts & pelmets gleaned from the recycling warehouse. A slightly-saner version is now under construction, that I might actually wear out! It would help if I could find the sewing room/spare bedroom floor, though...

@Gem-gem I have far too many clothes that I need to lose a magic 1/2 stone/stone to fit into. I have everything from a large 10 to size 16 in my wardrobe and bras in so many sizes. I had to totally restock with the correct size earlier this year (expensive and used up all my coupons).
By the time I can squeeze into them fashions change or my tastes have and my body shape has definately changed over recent years.7 -
Oh hurrah, @thriftwizard is back! How lovely to see you
I'm just popping out to the shops on my beautiful new-to-me old bicycle, but do relax and help yourself to a nice cup of tea while I'm gone and then when I'm back I'll get some baking going through in the little Village Hall kitchen, and you can settle back in properly.

I've never bought clothes that are too small, but I've kept clothes I've grown out of, and eventually I've re-made some or grown back into them...2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Sympathies, @Gem-gem, I know where you're coming from. The plan sounds sane and achievable: take it one day at a time and we'll cheer you on. You may also find that reviewing your wardrobe gives you options you hadn't considered before.
@thriftwizard, lovely to see you again, we was worried about you.It sounds like a very productive summer though - wish I could see these adventurous shirts!
