Forgot to mention, I also bought a man's shirt (second-hand) in Suffragette colours - XXL so plenty of material
Having watched the GBSB, am inspired to try and fashion it into a 30's-style blouse.
(On a separate note, one of the purveyors of second hand clothing wanted £20 for a very ordinary shirt! Profiteering or what?)2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Pipney-Jane, lovely hat and dress for Ascot. I went to Ascot in the 90's. Won an award at work, travelled there and back on the Belmond train. Amazing day.Today, I have been crocheting hearts, finishing off two birthday presents plus my HWB.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I am kicking myself. When getting changed for last night’s concert, I appear to have mislaid my black, cashmere cardigan. I remember taking it off and hanging it on the back of the toilet door in which I was getting changed, and thinking “don’t forget that”. I will swear that I put it in my bag. I will even swear that I saw it late last night tucked in with my shorts, when I got home and was unpacking my music. This morning, it was nowhere to be found in the house or car. Our concert manager has contacted the church manager, so hopefully it’ll be found, but I’m not holding out much hope.

Oh Pip, how annoying. I hope it turns up.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.2

@Gem-gem, those HWB covers are very smart and cosy-looking! Not sure those words are often used together but they seem appropriate here.
@PipneyJane, I hope your cardigan turns up soon. Hopefully your quick action will mean it comes back to you but if it doesn't, it might be worth a follow-up call to the place. Lost property can miss official channels and end up in The Box Behind The Desk!
I'm onto a fourth ball of yarn on the crochet project and while the batch numbers are the same, this particular ball has had a couple of splashes of a reddish coral for short lengths. The yarn is meant to be beige/white/pink. I've cut the coral out as it doesn't go with the rest. It was a very cheap acrylic bought some years ago so I can't do anything about it, but it's a bit odd.
I decided to do some passive sewing study while crocheting and came across a lady on Youtube who does vintage sewing skills. I'm hoping that listening will somehow fast-track me past a few rookie errors! Anyway, on one video she mentioned a 1954 book called 'Thrift with a Needle' which sounded my sort of thing. A quick search on line shows it's been digitised by some lovely person so I've added the link in case anyone else is interested.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

What an excellent book @Cherryfudge! That has reminded me of hints and tips my mum taught me (and caused my Textiles teacher’s eyes to light up). Thanks for the link - I love old needlework books.
what’s the YouTube channel you mentioned? That sounds interesting as wellIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!4 -
@Cherryfudge - reading the "Mending Lingerie" section - goodness, people really did go to some lengths to keep their undies going - it makes me really think about our throwaway habits. I'm pretty good at mending but, reading that, I realise that of course modern stretch-fabric briefs really can't be mended much... I'm even more pleased that I bought those (highly mendable!) shorts to wear as old-fashioned French Knickers (btw have you seen the teensy abbreviated briefs that are described as 'French knickers' in various online tutorials and patterns? Very odd...).
I shall definitely be using the bought ones as a pattern for making more, and I shall keep that link to hand for whenever any need a bit of repairwork, ditto for my crochet-lace edged camisoles!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
