Realised I haven't updated my signature for the 2 cardigans I finally bought. 1 a beige / camel colour and 1 a mustard / ochre type colour.

2 blouses to declare - total of 10 coupons.
Went into Marks for their bolognese tortellini as they're dairy-free and walked past some really nice pure linen blouses so, with the summer holiday in mind, I got 2 - one in tomato red and the other in emerald green with a thin white stripe. Hope they last, but they feel lovely and soft.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

I had a very profitable day pulling the wardrobe and chest of drawers contents out. A few things for the rag bag, a few for charity and, as suspected, I am a little short of summer tops that will do for work and play. I’m trying to avoid a coupon spend so will be trawling the charity shops to fill the gap.✒️ Declutter 2025👗 Fashion on the Ration 2025 61/66 coupons (5 coupons silver boots)✒️Declutter 2024 🏅🏅🏅(DSis 🏅🏅)

Hi Peeps,
went to a car boot today (not been for over 3 years) - they have always been my saviours and supporters of getting through life when my money was needed else where. I went with the intention of looking for a brown pair of brogues of either in shoe or boot, not minding either. Came across a pair of black onesnot what I was supposed to see. Anyhow brand new in my size and fit brilliantly. Lady said £4 bargain, she was selling them for a friend who had put a price on at £7.50 oops! They may not be exactly what I am after the look continues in the mean time they will turn into work shoes as my current ones do let in water and cannot be soled or healed.
Saw a tin of knitting needles for £2 at least 6 pairs. Another stall- a bag of buttons for £1. What is it about buttons? I don't need any of what is in there but were just too nice. So an overspend of 50p what I would have paid. Very impressed with myself being very restrainful
have a good weekend all.

Well after more than 2 years of avoiding the lurgy, both DH and I tested positive today. The really annoying thing is that tomorrow is father's day and I can't go to my dad's. DD's will go as usual but I daren't even send his card and presents as he's got multiple chronic conditions and I don't want to inadvertently pass the lurgy on.2025 Fashion on the ration

Mrs CD, sorry to hear you have the lurgy. I hope it isn't too severe for either of you.
I have a spend to declare - 6 pairs of socks. They aren't ankle length and they aren't knee length either. May I treat them as the same as a pair of tights, please?Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.
Fashion on the Ration - 27.5/66 ( 5 - shoes, 1.5 - bra, 11.5 - 2 pairs of shoes and another bra, 5- t-shirt, 1.5 yet another bra!) 3 coupons swimming costume.5 -
Having an experiment in dyeing. I have a pair of duck egg Ecco sneakers and I found some cotton in the same colour which I'm making a sleeveless top from (stash so no coupons) I also had a very pale apple green cotton cardigan - so pale green it was barely coloured. It's now residing in a washing up bowl with a sachet of Dylon Vintage Blue and fingers crossed, the cardigan had just enough green in it to make the end result a nice duck egg colour. So with luck a nice outfit to wear with white trousers - just as the mini heatwave ends!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8

Pip, your comment about tights and pop-socks made me smile, in my case it’s a little box - it used to be quite a large bag until I moved last year. Like you, I had hold-up stockings which I have never worn as far as I can remember; sheer black tights that would not last a minute, and about six pairs of beige tights- I only ever wear opaque tights in winter or pop socks under trousers for work or, like you, for choir. Where did they all come from? I have no idea.Maryb that sounds great, I hope the colour works out.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. @PipneyJane, I love that hat! And @MrsCD, I hope you're better soon and can then visit your Dad.
Nothing much to report here, war work continues... and when I'm in the shelter I have my shawl to work on. Most of the way through the third ball of yarn now, and have resisted temptation to buy a ball of a highlight colour simply to add a couple of small butterflies. I won't necessarily be butterfly-less as I remembered I have oddments in The Stash to experiment with.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

The dyeing experiment was a success - the cardigan now matches the cotton shell top perfectly. It's too big and a bit baggy but some judicious overlocking of side seams and some shoulder pads (we are in 1942, after all) should fix that.
I quite often use very thin shoulder pads as I have very narrow shoulders but I do not have a very narrow torso!! Egg on legs, that's me. When I sew something I start off with a size 10 on the shoulders ( and we're talking dressmaking size 10 here not High St) or even an 8 if the pattern goes down that far, then grade out to 14 at the underarm, 18 at the waist and 16 at the hips.
I used to faff around with Full Bust Adjustments on a pattern that fitted my shoulders but it adds all the extra width at the front because it assumes it's just the girls that are larger than the pattern. I need width at the waist even more. And a really big FBA makes the armhole come up too high and the dart is too big to sew without ending up with Pointy Boob Syndrome. That might have been ok in the 1950s but we are in 1942It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!6
