Any British mobile operators which will keep free EU roaming?

Could be a good move for O2, it'd certainly be a factor in some peoples' choice of mobile networks. Like choice of credit cards for foreign usage, most rip you off with markup on foreign usage but a few don't. Difference is that people are more likely to have multiple credit cards than multiple SIMs, so rather than just use O2 for foreign use like some people do with zero fee credit cards, they'd be more likely to O2 as their only SIM.simax said:O2 have publicly announced today they are not reintroducing EU roaming charges. EE and Vodafone will increase by CPI plus 3.9% which isn’t much less anyway.flaneurs_lobster said:

Comment below the article points out that VMO2 (?) will increase their prices by RPI + 3.9% in the spring, might well be 11%+.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
My existing Vodafone contract expires end of Jan, so will let it roll on until April at least. Was planning to renew after the April price rise, but might hold off.I tend to travel abroad 2-3 times a year, so that annual price rise will probably still be a lot less than £15 per trip0

Clever marketing though. With RPI being higher than CPI. Over time they'll recoup the money and more. As applies to all their users irrespective of whether they use the service or not.simax said:

VMO2 do offer PAYG - via their O2 brand.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂1

You can just get a new contract with O2 when your deal increases.
No need to port out and back0
