I received the bike on the 13th dec 2021 and the tyre went/came off the rim on the 24th dec 2021..Norman_Castle said:
You still haven't said how long between delivery and the incident. Bike tyres can loose air over time, having them improperly inflated will affect how a bike rides and will affect the efficiency and could cause them to come off the rim. Did the bike come with a manual which states tyre pressures?boushear said:Thanks for the recommendation for bike pumps and for letting me know about the pressure, like I say I am a bike noon and never considered the pressure
Despite the lack of use I'd stick with it, it looks like fun. Read the manual about battery charging. Most rechargeable batteries need regular charging even if they're not being used. Failing to do so can ruin them.
nope i didnt see a manual with the bike as it came assembled.. and the guy who delivered it showed me how to use it.. he talked me over battery care and charging...i will see what they say when the contact me back.. at the minute i cant get to the bike as i am out of the area, but even when i am back am reluctant to take the wheel off until i have talked to the company in case they accuse me of altering it or botching a fix0 -
I was not shown anything regarding tire pressure when being shown how to use it, he just told me how to navigate and handle charging the electric part, i can only assume that the tyre pressure wasnt good enough..The_Fat_Controller said:@boushear you should not be riding on a pavement !
Were you shown how to check the tyre pressure as part of the delivery demonstration ?
I wouldn't expect the pressures to drop within 11 days to an unsafe level if they were correct on delivery.
You still haven't said what exactly has happened, is it just the tyre that has come off the rim or "long story short, the back wheel is broken" ?
A tyre off is not broken.
If you have a car, how often do you check the tyre pressures ?
I am not sure what happened tbh When i rode the bike previously i noticed on sloping pavements i would have to correct the as it swerves toward the road, I was doing this and the bike did a huge swerve and i ended up with my wheel in the road..I checked the wheels and the rubber has come away from the frame, but still on.
I dont have a car so dont check tyre pressures0 -
So, the swerve could have caused the trike to over balance and the tyre to come off with the trike ending up in the road.
Rider error?1 -
Two learning points.
1. Read the manual and learn how to check and adjust the tyre pressures.
2. Do not commit an offence by riding your trike on pavements.

It's sounding like it may be.sheramber said:So, the swerve could have caused the trike to over balance and the tyre to come off with the trike ending up in the road.
Rider error?
It's pretty scary to learn that people can buy one of these trikes and ride it on the pavement with no period of learning how to control it - other than how to charge it.1 -
This is an electric trike, pretty much the same as a disability scooter. Our paths and roads should be used with the thought that they are being used by slow and fast vehicles, irrespective of the law.,The_Fat_Controller said:@Norman_Castle, suggest you read the "Pavement Cycling" section on this site
so unless it is shared use, you are committing an offence.

@sevenhills, it is not classified as a powered wheelchair or disability scooter so should not be on a pavement.
The law is there for a reason, you seem to infer it is just advice and you can disregard it when you feel justified to do so.1 -
I purchased an E Trike in early December for around £2500 and it got delivered on the 13th may 2021. is what you said in your opening post,?

The OP did originally say that. However in his most recent post (just above yours) he said:pallyman said:I purchased an E Trike in early December for around £2500 and it got delivered on the 13th may 2021. is what you said in your opening post,?I received the bike on the 13th dec 2021 and the tyre went/came off the rim on the 24th dec 2021.0
