Are these even legal to use in public land? There was a news report a few nights ago which showed an angle grinder being taken to a load of electric scooters, are electric trikes the same?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

No, scooters have two wheels, trikes have three.Money_Grabber13579 said:Are these even legal to use in public land? There was a news report a few nights ago which showed an angle grinder being taken to a load of electric scooters, are electric trikes the same?0 -
It sounds very much like the tyre may have come off due to you not bothering to check the tyre pressures, one of the most important checks required for any wheeled vehicle.
Have you now checked the pressures in the other two tyres ?

I think they are, but whether they're allowed to be ridden on the pavement as OP describes, is another question.Money_Grabber13579 said:Are these even legal to use in public land? It needs checking to establish the cause of the problem, the result of which will affect OP's consumer rights position.0 -

Although it does seem a little odd that you suddenly have no faith in them just because a tyre came off.
>>I purchased an E Trike in early December for around £2500 and it got delivered on the 13th may 2021. . I only managed to ride it twice the last being on Xmas eve

I make that 7 months...
Perhaps OP would like to confirm dates as they have said later Now as i received the bike on the 13th dec 21,
My guess is like others. Tyre was flat or low on pressure & has come off rim Causing the issue.
Folding or normal version?Life in the slow lane0 -
At that price and using the company name, I guess they purchased one of these.

As the blurb and video say they are delivered fully assembled and ready to go by the company and also the purchaser gets a demo on delivery.
It there was no issue on that demo, then the OP has been either unlucky to have an equipment failure or has hit a pothole or other road imperfection that has caused the problem.
Is the wheel actually broken or has the tyre just detached from the rim ?

Never assume your tyre pressure is OK, bike tyres are far more prone to deflation than car tyres and really you should check before each ride. Those big balloon tyres need decent pump to get up to pressure without expending a huge amount of energy. Although these a low pressure tyres there is a lot of volume to fill.
A track pump will do the job at home, something like this should fit the bill.

On the road a smaller high volume pump required,

As a guide dog owner, i must admit to being quite pleased at the failure of the tyre.
Especially as the OP thinks it is reasonable to ride it on the pavement, weaving in and out to avoid pedestrians9
