You make it sound like I am zooming around making people jump out of my way, every pedestrian I come across, I stop the bike to allow anyone to pass..Nannytone said:As a guide dog owner, i must admit to being quite pleased at the failure of the tyre.
Especially as the OP thinks it is reasonable to ride it on the pavement, weaving in and out to avoid pedestrians

Thanks for the recommendation for bike pumps and for letting me know about the pressure, like I say I am a bike noon and never considered the pressure0

if you were doing 5 to 6 mph as per your previous post that is plenty fast enough to do a lot of damage to someone who steps in front of you because neither of you have seen each otherboushear said:

You still haven't said how long between delivery and the incident. Bike tyres can loose air over time, having them improperly inflated will affect how a bike rides and will affect the efficiency and could cause them to come off the rim. Did the bike come with a manual which states tyre pressures?boushear said:Thanks for the recommendation for bike pumps and for letting me know about the pressure, like I say I am a bike noon and never considered the pressure
Despite the lack of use I'd stick with it, it looks like fun. Read the manual about battery charging. Most rechargeable batteries need regular charging even if they're not being used. Failing to do so can ruin them.

@boushear you should not be riding on a pavement !
Were you shown how to check the tyre pressure as part of the delivery demonstration ?
I wouldn't expect the pressures to drop within 11 days to an unsafe level if they were correct on delivery.
You still haven't said what exactly has happened, is it just the tyre that has come off the rim or "long story short, the back wheel is broken" ?
A tyre off is not broken.
If you have a car, how often do you check the tyre pressures ?

Money_Grabber13579 said:Are these even legal to use in public land? There was a news report a few nights ago which showed an angle grinder being taken to a load of electric scooters, are electric trikes the same?
It depends on the power and speed. Up to 250 watts and 15.5mph is classed as a bicycle. I've seen scooters going far faster than 15mph.

@Norman_Castle
Read the OP, received13 Dec and demo given by company who deliver individually.
Ridden twice with the incident of 24 Dec.
I am pretty sure from description it is this
https://www.alpineelectricbikes.co.uk/products/alpine-electric-bikes-electric-explorer-trike-e-tricycle
and is certainly classified as a bike.

Although it does seem a little odd that you suddenly have no faith in them just because a tyre came off.
>>I purchased an E Trike in early December for around £2500 and it got delivered on the 13th may 2021. . I only managed to ride it twice the last being on Xmas eve

I make that 7 months...
Perhaps OP would like to confirm dates as they have said later Now as i received the bike on the 13th dec 21,
My guess is like others. Tyre was flat or low on pressure & has come off rim Causing the issue.
Folding or normal version? Now as i received the bike on the 13th dec 21, 14 days after this would be 27th dec but as its xmas the company wont read the email until the 28-29th at least. Are they legally required to take this into consideration. Also i have proof that i sent an email to the company on the 24th requesting a refund, will this suffice?

As a cyclist, pedestrian, motorist and regular dog walker I find cycling on the pavement is fine if done with regard for others. I've been annoyed by inconsiderate pavement cycling but don't think every pavement cyclist causes problems.

As a guide dog owner, i can neither see, nor hear electric vehivles of any type.
Surely the OP recognises that visually i paired, children, elderly people ..... in fact ANYONE , has the right to ude the pavement without the possibility of being impeded/injured by any vehicle3
