I've been having a nose at the website for my pension for old, old job, as I saw my ISA seems to have taken right off in the last week or so. Discovered they have a funky feature where it tells you exactly what you've paid in to it and can search for your balance on any given past date. In the five years since I left and stopped paying anything in, it's gone up by 30%! If I look back at the 01/01/2022 figure, it was up 37.5% at that point! It's one thing to read FIRE blogs and the like and understand the theory, but actually seeing how putting the money in early and then doing absolutely nothing works in effect is quite powerful!
Now, where can I find some more money to invest....π€π€£Mortgage start: Β£65,495 (March 2016)

@South_coast - I'm considering a wee LISA to try and reduce our early retirement tax burden3

Agree @savingholmes every little bit does help.Β Don't think I have any mysterious pensions anywhere - I worked in retail until I left uni and don't remember paying pension back then, and since I left uni I've been in the NHS and have always paid into that pot.Β No idea what my pension pot will look like in another 30 years so will try and supplement with saving the bits that I can.
