Baileys_Babe said:You have my sympathies, we need new pillows. I have tried a few times to decide which to buy there is so much choice:
Sleep position
Firmness
Size

I just want some comfortable pillows.
I love vintage furniture but more side boards as they are often better made than new rather than things with bed bugs! UghSC a tog is a weight/heat measure so the more togs the warmer it will be
£70 is a decent amount for Argos

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Sorry South coast for hijacking you diary and making it about my pillows - just think of it as research for the future 😁
Thank you everyone for your recommendations as TMV says pillow preferences are very subjective, I know I don't want memory foam as I have tried it a few times when staying with friends and it's not for me. I'm currently leaning towards feather and or down.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hijack away, it saves me having to think about my own decisions 🤣!
Also distracts my attention from the fact the straps on my prettiest bra have just completely disintegrated in the wash 😱! It would appear the satiny patterned bit was just an outer layer and apparently glued in place. Think that will be a project for my Mum (once it's dry!), she enjoys a good needlework challenge....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

My needle challenges go to my Mum as well 🤣 my view is it keeps her busy and stops her getting into trouble 🤭Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hmmmm, well there are challenges and there are challenges!
No idea why it has suddenly disintegrated like that 🤷♀️! It's not like I'd used any different products in the machine, and it was in a laundry bag. Fine when it went in, and now both straps are like this! I've had it just over a year and it was a "nice" brand from M&S - I expected better!
Think it may be a case of unpicking the remaining stitching and just removing the outer fabric, although looking more closely at the rest of the bra, it doesn't look like it will be too much longer before the fabric covering the underwires goes the same way 🙁Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

First of the month round-up….
15.42*x extra £50s this month, coming from Vypr, surveys, interest, some tilly tidies, receipt scanning, but mostly a year's interest on the LISA 🤣! Used them towards the refurb….and the LISA (not a great deal of choice there, as the interest is trapped in there until I'm 60)!
Managed to claw back some of March's overspend and more than halved the “debts to self” on payday to £93.09. Had to use my Grand National winnings AND raid the extra £50s pot to even get that close though, which felt worse than not keeping within the budget in the first place 🙁
Was very excited to be able to use a £10-off voucher on something which was £11!
Feeling a bit gloomy and not entirely sure why. I think it's partly that I have a sore knee so can't go running and am feeling myself getting fatter/less fit with every passing day (I've also spent the first 4 months of 2024 drinking too much and eating too much, both for no apparent reason) - but mostly it's the realisation that even once the refurb is done, I still won't really be getting FIREd up. There will be the rest of the refurb to pay for (going to have to at least use the 0% card - which was obtained specifically for that purpose - and the plan is to make use of 0% credit wherever it's offered to help with the cashflow for things I need to use cash for), so my days of sub £200 monthly bills are over, and then there's still “the other thing” to set money aside for. I save so much, yet it feels like so little is for “me”! Knowing there is still such a slog ahead is sapping my motivation for just about everything - not good when I am trying to come across as driven and inspirational at work, plus would like some extra £50s!
So - new month, new start!
10.74 years to go….
* Random number again, as the interest was inconveniently not deposited as a round £50 🙄🤣

Hang in there I know the feeling but the renovation is for you and your benefit. Make sure you get the things you really want rather than what will make do even if more expensive. You are going to have to live with it for a while and nice fittings and fixtures can be a great joy and wont need replacing that often.
I hope the better weather and the lovely spring blossom can motivate you and give you your mojo back here is to cutting that 0.74 off that number.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Thanks TG. Trust me, I'm not compromising - first draft of kitchen quote has come in at £11k, and it's only a 2m x 2m room 😳!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

It does look good though 😀 Almost worth that just to finally have a dishwasher 🤣!
And you're right, 10.74 not something to grumble about really. I'm 10 years and 10 months away from qualifying for a full state pension, and currently 10 years and 9 months away from reaching my "number", so actually marginally ahead of schedule 😀 Just fiddled with the spreadsheet and I'm £20k short of knocking off the 0.74 years, so maybe we'll stick as-is for the moment!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
