Me too TMV, but my guess would probably be considered quite exciting, so I'm probably way off too 😄4

If your suspicions involve BF and I living together, you are definitely a long way off 🤣!

I drink so infrequently that most months are dry. I think the issues I have had with stopping drinking (medical reasons, I would drink if it didn't hurt so much) was I miss the socialness of it and also I used to really enjoy some of the drinks. It's nice to sit and relax either on your own or socially with something you enjoy. Over the last ten or so years, it stopped bothering me and I have no shame in being the only one at the meal ordering a tea.7

I am enjoying one day of dry Jan as I have a hangover -: why people think shots are a good idea I will never know ..
I am planning a largely dry … as have couple events I do want to drink at this monthDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I’ve never done dry January as I’m not a huge drinker anyway and it’s DH’s birthday so we may have a drink then. I can lend you a 2 year old if you want… no one would drink too much knowing they have to get up early the next day for a child without a volume control 😂. Just to clarify, I do drink LOADS less than I used to 🤣! If I can make it until 7.00pm I'm absolutely fine, it's just a nice little something late afternoon (only if I'm off work, obvs 🤣) or early evening is very nice. I can't recall the last time I had a hangover, haven't had much over Christmas, and I certainly don't drink every single day like I used to. I gave someone some sensible advice a few months ago that they didn't need to give up completely, but just try to restrict themselves to the 14 units per week which is the guidance, then thought "That was a good idea, I could take that on board myself" - except I subliminally seemed to see that as a target rather than an absolute limit 🤦♀️! Then I found myself having a cheeky extra glass of something because I was still "allowed" to, rather than it necessarily being a good idea.
So, dry January for a bit of a reset. My thinking is that if you find it slightly challenging it's probably all the more important that you do it!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

That's fine SC - I certainly didn't think you were a lush!
I don't think I need to do Dry Jan - I certainly don't drink anywhere near the limit (your 'targeting' reminds me of my mother's attitude to speed limits 😬), but I always feel that it's expected at this time of year. Our friends and family had better watch out though - next January is when we're likely to have a party, so no Dry Jan for them!

Yes, definitely like speed limits, Vix 🤣! Need to remind myself of my little motto: "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
