I think you need to give yourself mini goals, 12 years is a long time, don't go wishing it away!

Right, so trying to quote! I agree 12 years is a long time (even longer if it's not long enough 😮) - any ideas for some mini goals though 🤔?

@killerpeaty is right, 12 years is a long time, and you have to enjoy life now as well as shooting for early retirement. Perhaps mini goals could include enough money to work in a less stressful job? Or part time where you are now?
As someone who retired very early, I can't stress enough the importance of having hobbies and interests, especially ones in the winter that get you away from the TV.

I feel like I do enjoy life though 🤷‍♀️ (apart from ten minutes once a month where I tot up my figures and realise how little progress I'm making 🤣) I'll agree that work does take over my whole head though and I'm a wreck by the end of the day. No chance of going part-time (it's not that kind of environment, plus the commute wouldn't make it worthwhile), but the original plan was to switch to doing something else in about 5 years and coast the rest of the way. Definitely can't see I'd be able to do that any more though - ISA would need to be at 60%, not 4% 😳! Hmmmm, will give it some thought....

  • Sounds like measuring progress to coast fi and lean fire alongside your intended true fire number would be perfect for you SC 🙂 You might get a very nice surprise and find you are already coast fi, or closer to it than you imagine!

I'm pleased that you're enjoying life now.

Perhaps the first mini goal could be to get the ISA to 10%?
