"Hello, my name is Siebrie, and I am overwhelmed". There, I've said it. I'm overwhelmed by the mess in my living quarters (which are only downstairs, as upstairs is being renovated), dds' teenage behaviour, the diy I have to take on to finish the upstairs renovation.I'm an organised person; I like 'a place for everything and everything in its place'; I like to be able to walk through the house in the dark, because I know where I can step; I like reaching out for items and finding them where they should be; I like doing my admin weekly and finding old admin in 5 minutes. Huge hug Siebrie. I’m quite similar; I really don’t cope well when my house is in a state of upheaval. It will get better, bit by bit. Not easy with teenagers in the school holidays, and your husband being away too. But things will return to normal, the girls will be back to school, and your routine will return, and your husband will come home so you won’t be tackling it all alone. You can only do what you can do, but it’s not forever xx10

Totally understand. My step dad is here putting new bathroom in this week and whole house is a mess and all out of normality…will be worth it I keep relating to myself 😁9

Hi all, diving in after over a week away.
Big hugs @Siebrie. Its aways a struggle when you can't get on with things and everything is a mess. not long now.
So I had a fab holiday with girlfriends in Devon last week. Plenty of good food, laughter and the odd drop of wine. Back home for a day then down again with DD who was visiting a friend and My DH and I visitied my DB and family who we haven't seen since Christmas I think.
Had a lovely time with DH and lots of discussion about all sorts of subjects I ahd been mulling over. Everything from more input with in laws to some garden prjects. the list is very long.
Also decluttered another bag of sales while I as away.
We are all systems go now as we decltter DD to Manchester on Wednesday.5 large items to Items to permanently go (shelves x2, tower computer x2 and a table) plus lots of smalls as she rakes through all th cupboards for goodies we don't need like storage containers. Will count when they are out of the house.

Door of TLC carriage bursts open and in staggers Vulpix carrying many carrier bags. Vulpix collapses into the nearest vacant seat, closes eyes, drops multiple bags containing worry, stress, responsibility, illness, insomnia and over eating to the floor.Hello chums.
Siebrie you have what my builder calls renovator’s remorse. To add my tenpenneth, it will pass, your girls will not always be teenagers and you will cope because you are an amazing strong person.Congratulations and commiserations where appropriate, particularly for TC, granny Kate and wildrose.I have been busy. Trials of Mum in hospital, touch and go for a while, now on a Covid ward and getting slowly stronger.
Mr V And I have both had norovirus. It has knocked the stuffing out of us but now feeling much better.Mil continues to be a worry.I have however been reminded that master Vulpix and Miss Vulpix and their partners are superior human beings.
Builders have made a surprise appearance and have removed concrete slab path from the front of the house and replaced with reclaimed stone. They have relaid the original stone kerbs. Presently digging the road in front of the house to lay drains and a sump. Next will be lay some cobbles which have been dug up out of the garden at the edge of my part of the road, level the road surface, add surface gulley and new tarmac. Simple! Also move the bathroom window to enable a more sensible bathroom layout. That will be it for a while as they are off on another job in a couple of weeks. Still to do, new bath room, kitchen, decoration and flooring. A long rest to let life settle down before then.Out. A bag of soft plastic to the supermarket
A bag of blister packs to SuperdrugI smashed my new mirror by falling over
In the bedroom 🤦♀️Used up lots of paint on trellis. There must be other stuff but I can’t remember just now.Vx:12 -
@Vulpix, sorry to hear how tough life is, hopefully the TLC's special vacuum system to dispose of the bags of worry and stress deposited there is working and they will be disappear and you'll manage a drink of your choice and something from the dessert trolley to help a little, along with a massage and time to unwind.
So many people are having a tough time, and hoping that things improve and people can cope on a day by day basis and be kind to yourself.11 -
Had a great day at Disneyland with my sisters. We only went on about 7 rides, had lunch and shopped a bit. My roommate had gotten us in for free - he works there and stayed with us for part of the day. Helped get us on a couple of rides. When I walk long distances like this, I use my walker. That helped a lot and we avoided most of the lines. Probably would have only made it on one or two rides without it. It is one I can sit on which I really appreciate.
Still feeling overwhelmed with everything else. Husky is still here - I let her in occasionally but most of the time she lives in the yard. The food I gave away was dog food she rejected. We will be giving the minister some cat food also for her cat as our stubborn cats refuse to eat the beef shreds (Dog won't eat them either). House is just overwhelming. One step at a time - keep reminding myself that 10 items out a day would mean 3,650 items out this year. Just worried that that many will come back in.
I feel like I need a vacuum for worry, stress, and all also. Have 12 bags of cans and bottles to go out tomorrow. My sister with the grandkids took a box of books to them yesterday. Will sort some of the rest out for sproutmas and birthdays (almost all in December). Just have to find a place to keep them until then. Today is trash day - so will fill up all of our cans to go out - and a neighbor has said we can add some bags to her trash cans also if we need it.
Good luck everyone making it day by day.

Today I was out with DS most the day, then we got too hot and came home. He helped clean out 3/4 of his room (took us about 2 hours), but he was fantastic and we’ve got rid of so much stuff. I’ve also filled my entire room of doom with tons of stuff that needs to be sorted through and some gone, some stored somewhere (who knows where) to be given to DD later or swapped out.
I did also reduce books as well as toys (feels like sacrilege to me..), but I am hoping that it will encourage DS to read more as there is less to choose from and it is easier to get the books out.
Anyway, in case it helps anyone, asking a 5 year old what they want to get rid of will lead to 1-5 items being listed. The way to do it is to bring everything of a category together and say “pick your favourite X number of items and we’ll get rid of the rest”. It was surprising just how quickly DS picked everything and was happy letting all this stuff go. So proud of him!
ooh - dinner ready so back with the totals later as I don’t want to lose my post. They are impressive though, so hold on!2025 decluttering: 3,958🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅
