Eek indeed beanie, hope you've got your hot water bottle ready!
Well, I have committed another MSE sin! 😱😱 Not only did I forget my vouchers, and get a library fine, but I have now let a subscription renew!! I set a reminder 2 days ago to cancel it, but just didn't, and now it's gone out 😠 Entirely preventable, and entirely my own fault 🙄
It's a magazine subscription, first 3 issues for £1, then £30 for 6 issues 🙄 So overall each one will have cost me £3.60, rather than just the £3 for the first 3 that I originally intended. Most vexing. I'll at least make a special effort to enjoy them!
Let's hope this is the end of my MSE transgressions 🙄
Best get my act together, meeting my mum this morning. At least it's not raining! It's a bit windy but the sun is shining - good job as the place we're going is just a garden, there's no inside except the cafe 🙄😂
(Oh good - mum's just texted to say she's running late - should I admit that I'm not actually dressed yet anyway?!) 😂6 -
Have a lovely day out Cheery!
Annoying about the magazines, but these things happen. (Let’s face it, if they didn’t, the manufacturers wouldn’t do the offers!)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I'm glad it's not just me that commits the occasional subscription oopsie - as you say, all you can do is appreciate the expensive things that you accidentally bought!Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Aww, Cheery - I suppose we can all keep only so many balls in the air. And yours dropped out all at once
I'm glad to hear you have a good day out planned with your mum (and how convenient she's a bit late 😊). Hope you have a lovely catchup.
2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
Thanks all 😊 It's not the first time I've done it, and I imagine it won't be the last either 😂 It's Country Living magazine, which is my not-so-secret guilty pleasure, so I shall make sure I enjoy it indeed 😁😂
I worked out when mum should arrive, then dawdled so much I made myself late for that time 🙄 However, I have now arrived, and she hasn't, so I'm still counting that as a win 😂 Can't go in without her as I have the free pass, so I've found a sunny bench where I can watch the car park entrance. What a beautiful autumnal day!8 -
Well, we had a lovely day! The rain mostly held off, just a couple of showers, and we had a good wander round the gardens.
Not a cheap day out 🙄 Free parking, and free entry, which saved us £24 (although it wasn't really a saving, as we wouldn't have gone at all if we weren't getting in free 😂).
I paid for both lunches and cakes, so £29 spent in the cafe. I also rescued three little reduced plants (£5) and bought a Christmas present (£17).
I didn't get round to sorting out the voucher (which said to allow 24 hours so I couldn't do it instantly) - I wouldn't have got more than £20 voucher though, so would have only saved £1.40.
Still. Plants from meagre garden budget. Present from Christmas budget, so just the £29 from my spending, which I don't mind - I don't see my mum that often, and it was nice to take her out for a treat 😊
Little bit of scything when I got in - I would have done more but the heavens opened and I got soaked just walking back to the house (can't run while carrying a scythe!) Warm and dry and cosy now, and not feeling very inclined to do that much tonight. Possibly a bath 😁
Happy wheel down AGAIN, at £45 for October now 😠
No 1P studies today, £23.05
Did a YouGov survey, only another 30 to payout - don't think I'll make that this year but we'll see 🙄😂
Nothing doing on Prolific, standing at £8 ish with £5 ish to clear.
Tea was leftovers from yesterday so at least I didn't have to cook!
Heating's on 🙄 Thermostat just at 16, which is what it usually sits at for us, but it's so flippin soggy round here at the minute it helps to keep the damp at bay 🙄6 -

Thanks beanie 😊
The sun is shining! I have done a workout, had a very tasty breakfast that I made last night, fixed the broken blind in the living room, and epilated my legs until the machine ran out of battery 🙄😂
Pleased about the blind. They're all bamboo roll up ones, so they let a lot of light through, so Mr Cheery likes them down most of the day, but I go round rolling them all up for some direct sunlight 🙄 But that one is right by his chair, and the sun shines onto the TV, so it stays mostly down, but then it broke, so it's been down for months 🙄
However, with the condensation on the window it's started to go a bit mouldy, as has the windowsill 🙄 So, string fixed, which took 5 minutes instead of the anticipated 'forever', and at least now it will stop getting worse. I'll give the whole thing a wipe over with some vinegar later.
On the cards for today:
* scything
* strimming?
* other outdoor jobs - potting up the plants I bought yesterday, making a start with the new stone cleaner, repotting a couple of house plants
* take Mr Cheery's passport photo & get that sent off
* meal planning
* make food for the week - got 2 days in the office and 1 I'm travelling down south so will take a picnic
* washing out on the line
* wipe blinds with vinegar
No doubt Mr Cheery will want to go out somewhere, so I'd best get outside before he rouses himself too much.
Gosh, it does make a difference when the sun is shining!5
