Plumber texted and popped out as he had a bit spare time.
Sadly the boiler isn't an easy fix 🙄 He's not sure what part is bust, so it'll be a bit of messing about. We already had a new circuit board about 4 months ago that cost several hundred, and now who knows.
He did offer the option of a new boiler... and he's a local independent so I trust he's not just trying to scam us into it. Also, he was recommended by a friend, who is the mum of one of his friends 😂
Mr Cheery hasn't taken it well 🙄 And I was having a crappy day anyway so I'm not taking it particularly well myself 🙄 However, someone has got to be an adult and clearly it's going to have to be me, for now at least. He's gone off to collect something off freegle so I'm going to have a cuppa, spend an hour or so trying to finish off enough work that I can stop for the long weekend, and then create a plan of action 🙄4 -
I suppose at least the next tank of gas will last longer if we can't use any for a fortnight! 🙄

The only good custard (for me anyway) is the one you gently stew bread and butter pudding in. I did think of a good hot 'cake' from my childhood which is jam roll poly (suet, pressure cooker, still not custard)
mr Redos greatest childhood regret is not trying school custard till his last term and finding out how much he liked it.Bananas and tinned custard still his guilty indulgence. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Much sympathy on the boiler, I find deciding what to do (and how to fund it) most painful. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I do like sherry in trifle, and whisky in a Scots dish called cranachan, and those cherry liqueur chocolates as well. Generally just an alcohol in sweet things sort of person I think 😂.
I think there are different sherrys, and I was given one at an Xmas lights thing which I liked a lot, and also tried other ones I didn't like, and I've no idea which ones were which 😂.Live the good life where you have been planted.

😂😂 you lot with all your boozy puddings talk 😂😂
Well, we are no more cheerful here, and sadly we don't do joint misery, so we are in separate rooms being grumpy separately 🙄

I love cranachan @Elisheba as well as tiramisu, a couple of weeks ago I made a tiramisu cheesecake, that was lush 😋Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

So sorry to hear about your boiler woes @Cheery_Daff Hopefully a good night's sleep and the long weekend will give you both some processing time and cheerful service will resume soon.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Ooh, cheesecake 😁😁 I have a picture of me scoffing a ginormous piece of Orkney fudge cheesecake a few years back - one of the best moments of my cake-eating life 😂😂
Well, the sun is shining, the washing machine is on, and Mr Cheery has gone off for a band practice. I'm going to get my head down for a couple of hours of work that didn't get done yesterday 🙄 and then do something useful (like tidy up and peg the washing out, and maybe take some sewing machines upstairs), and something cheerful (maybe potter in the garden, and maybe head for a wander at a nature reserve I've not been to - although a sunny Good Friday round here means I might be better staying at home...
Braved the spare shower this morning 😱 We've not used it since we moved in, so didn't even know if it worked 😂 Fortunately it does, and it's actually more powerful and easier to control than the normal one. It's also basically in a cupboard with no window and no radiator, and a really dingy shabby light fitting, in the coldest bit of the house, so it'll never replace the normal shower in the main bathroom, but it'll do for now.
I think the trick is to pretend you're camping 😂 Doing that, I found myself appreciating the power and the hot water, rather than feeling cramped and in the dark 😂😂
Plumber has been texted and asked to try to fix the boiler but also provide a quite for replacement so we know what we're working with. He's coming next Thursday, so another 6 or 7 days without a boiler 🙄
Still, at least we have electric heaters, an electric shower, and the weather is warming up! And I've got a poncho and hot water bottle but that's standard most of the year round anyway 😂7
