Evening all, and thank you for your kind words. Up and down here. Got a bit of a stressy time on at work at the minute ( ot bad stress, just deadlines and travelling and things to do), and it's spilling over into everything else.
Frustrating evening here. Mr Cheery has finally decided he can't fix my laptop, so I'm on the tedious and boring hunt for a new one. Personally I'd just buy the cheapest - but that's a considerable downgrade in terms of processing power and storage compared to my current one, which is about 6 or 7 years old 🙄 However, I don't use it for that much - main thing is uploading photos, blog posts, general life admin etc, and watching the odd YouTube video.
Any suggestions welcome!
Not sure ibcan bring myself to spend £300 when that's all I want to use it for. I was trying to find a decent black Friday deal but I now just feel like I'm rushing and not making a good decision, so I'm going to leave it for tonight now and I'll take my chances without a deal.
Yawn, just feels like yet another thing to sort out 🙄
Been quite grumpy about Mr Cheery coming to work with me tomorrow too - principally because I have FINALLY got a coveted parking permit to park right outside the door, but if he's coming too I don't need the damn thing!! 🙄😂 How is that a reasonable thing to be grumpy about?? It does also mean we have to get both of us out the door by 7am, with chickens all sorted out as well, rather than him doing that after I've gone. Also means I have to stay til he's done with band practice at 8pm, meaning a long day for both of us.
Anyway, Blah blah blah. Yawn.
Need to just stop and go to bed I think!6 -
I got my current HP one from John Lewis for around £400, and I generally use it for all the things you've listed above. I find HP are quite long lasting, my previous one was also an HP and kept going for at least 5 years."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

I have a Lenovo - I asked my eldest nephew what to buy, he's a high-up mucky muck in the financial computing work, and though he doesn't have Lenovo himself, all his staff do 😂 I didn't have any personal experience of the brand, but its been fine.
Sorting out can get a bit stressful in the end, can't it ... hope your day goes well tomorrow, Cheery.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -
I hope this morning went smoothly and you got a good night’s sleep last night.
Don’t forget to check out Backmarket for second hand options - Mr MV has bought a phone and a laptop from them and has been very pleased.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thank you all, and @themadvix I'd not heard of Back Market, so thank you!! Cant believe I didn't think of refurbished - I ALWAYS buy a refurbished phone so no idea why it didn't occur to me. So glad I posted in here before buying 🙄 I had a very quick look this morning and could see something that would fit the bill perfectly at a price I'm happy with - fingers crossed it'll still be there tonight!7

Well, I am delighted to say I found something comparable to the one I spotted earlier at a slightly cheaper price, so I've treated myself to a second wireless mouse, so I can have one with the new laptop in the living room, and one in the study 😁
Anyway, £212, including the mouse, and it's free deliver and a 12 month warranty. 8GB RAM, 256GB storage (my current one is 512 🙄 and Mr Cheery's is 900 ish, but the trend seems to be downwards rather than upwards). We'll see what it's like when it turns up!7 -

Thanks Beanie 😊
Well, an eventful day here. My mum has covid, my nephew ended up in hospital after being hit with a hockey stick 🙄 and I have been on strike 🙄
Quite a productive day for me though. Met a friend for lunch at Trentham Gardens - she had free tickets to get in, so we had a wander, lunch in a pie cafe, and then she left, and I stuck around to do some Christmas shopping. Determined not to leave it all til the last minute this year, and she insisted I could do ALL of it there if I put my mind to it...
Not quite true of course, but after 3.5 hours (which included a stop in a cafe and a chat to my mum) I've made a very respectable dent in the list! Most pleased.
Didn't intend to be out quite this long though - still not home as I've stopped for some milk and a short break after being stuck in a load of rush hour traffic.
Still, very pleased, I think most people have at least SOMETHING now so hopefully not loads of traipsing round to be done the week before Christmas, hooray!9 -
That sounds like a very productive day Cheery! Well done on all that Christmas shopping - I really must make a start on mine…Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
