Afternoon chums ๐
Nowt much to report here. Working at home today, and I've failed to put anything in the hay box for tea.ย
Prolific standing at ยฃ14.66 with ยฃ1.14 pending - will try to get over ยฃ20 for the month. This is destined as mortgage OPs so it will be nice to get going with those again! I might try to withdraw a couple of days before the end of the month and get it sent over so it registers before October starts.
Less said about the Happy Wheel the better. Still in minus figures, and with only 10 days of the month left I'm losing hope for a turnaround ๐ Mind you, I did win ยฃ200 in one go near the end of last month so I can't really complain. Would very much like to break even though!ย
Mr Cheery is out tonight, so I, of course, need a wildly overambitious list ๐
* strim garden
* change sheets and put old ones in wash (I'll put the energy monitor on the washing machine!)
* See if I can use the last of the paint on the ceiling
* blog post
* banks/YNAB
That'll probably do I think.13 -
Hi Cheery, your energy monitoring is fascinating! ย Iโve got an ancient extra freezer in the garage and Iโve often wondered if itโs costing me more than itโs saving me (itโs for batch cooks and YS treasure!). ย I might need invest in one of those monitors. ย Iโll then be able to drive OH mad with my energy readings which will make a nice change from my retirement income projections ๐๐๐
Good luck with that massive list xOriginal mortgage ยฃ112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!8 -
๐๐ you should definitely get one!!ย
I left it plugged into the extension cable that has my laptop and monitor plugged in while I was working all day today. Both of those things on for 11 hours, plus I also charged the phone and switched the printer on to print a few pages - grand total of 10p for the lot ๐
Still no heating, but it was borderline in the study today at 14 degrees ๐ Pushing at even my stoic boundaries, even with fleecy jacket thing and hot water bottle (oh, and my hot water bottle sprang a leak!! ๐ฑ๐ฑ Soaked the cover but fortunately I noticed quickly so no other damage done. Also fortunately I had a spare - although of course now I need another spare!)
Anyway, I have done a grand total of ZERO things under my list ๐ Ended up working til about 7.45, then my sister rang, so talked to her for an hour while I cleaned the kitchen and made some food for tomorrow.
Then heard that someone I know had died unexpectedly, in their early 60s ๐ Felt ill for a couple of days, then just didn't wake up one morning. That's the second sudden death of someone quite young I've heard of in less than a week (the other was knocked off their bike and killed, aged late 50s) so life is feeling pretty precarious right now ๐6 -
Oh Cheery, thatโs awful about your friend. Life is so precious and precarious, youโre right. Sending hugs (also to keep you warm - it may well get that cold here but not for another month or so yet!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! ยฃ132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

So sorry to hear about your friend, Cheery - it's still quite young, as you say, and when it's that unexpected, it really knocks us for six
ย Life is precarious, yes - whenever it hits home, it's really shocking
ย
I was so pleased for you with the 10p thing for your 11 hours of tech!ย It's real, but it's not the main thing, not at all.ย ย
Hope you're okay today.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -

Sorry to hear about your friends - it does make you rethink things in my experience.
the energy readings are interesting. I assumed our problem was the many computers and monitors but maybe not.ยMy mortgage free diary:ย https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
