Washing machine is home! Mr Cheery currently trying to figure out how to get it out of the car by himself, or else he'll have to drive it all the way to his band rehearsal later 😂
No idea if it actually works of course - they said it did. It's an elderly couple downsizing and replacing their washer and dryer with a combined washer dryer apparently.
Hopefully we'll be able to get it in the house tonight at any rate, and I might rope my friend into helping me shift the old one and plumb in the new (although really our priority is hay!)3 -
I’m surprised it is still dry enough for hay making - it’s very wet and windy in the south west.2

It's not. I'm using it as a shorthand. Hay is a byproduct for me - what I'm trying to do is restore the field as a meadow for wildlife purposes, which means removing the cut grass (and therefore fertility) to give the less vigorous plants a fighting chance next season. Back at the start of August this did result in some hay - but this time of year, it results in a load of cut long grass, which may or may not dry, but certainly doesn't dry out enough for storage. I use it as mulch round the fruit trees.Ramouth said:I’m surprised it is still dry enough for hay making - it’s very wet and windy in the south west.
I often talking about it as scything rather than hay making - more accurate, although this week there's an awful lot of raking and pitchforking for us to do as well! 😂5 -
Transfer of fertility, I like it
also glad to hear you've got a washing machine! 2023: the year I get to buy a car2 -
That's exactly it KC - transferring fertility from one place to another 😊Karmacat said:Transfer of fertility, I like it

I'm not counting my washing machines though until we've determined that the new one does actually work... 😂2 -
Ah I see, that makes sense. I was imagining the rest of the country basking in sunshine making hay while I contemplate for how long it can possibly rain everyday and how long we can go without doing any washing! I’m very impressed with your efforts for the good of the soil / meadow.Cheery_Daff said:

Excellent question El! 😂😂 although I confess I don't know which dragon you are speaking of!
And I can assure you we are certainly NOT basking in sunshine 😮😂😂 Although it's quite sunny right this second - which is of no help as I am just leaving my friend's house having dropped some stuff off, and still have an hour before I get home (by which time it will likely be raining again)2
