Your walks and teas all sound lovely
I am currently in the countryside and have 16 animals plus fish under my care for 2 weeks so it’s not as peaceful!
Just fed everyone inc the fish their breakfasts and now just escaped outside with my first coffee on the patio and a cheeky bit of MB before I have to do the next tranche of animal stuff
DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ha, yes I've been reading your escapades - not relaxing at all, and underlining exactly why I'm not having any more animals!3

Afternoon chums 😊
Well, I did an hour of scything, then we nipped put for breakfast, and collected the other scythe blade 😊 I'll swap them tonight and see how well I get on.
Walked to the local garden fete - a fundraiser for some charities that have helped the family of the organiser. It was lovely, bigger than I'd imagined, they had a band on, and an excellent brick a brac stall, and tea and cake 😁
We came home with all kinds from the bric a brac stall 🙄 and I won a bottle of pink cava and a BBQ lighter on the tombola 😂
Walked there and back, so about an hour in total, which was nice, and had a nice chat with the organiser and a couple of other people too 😊
Tired now. Just spotted a mouse in the bathroom, so have put the trap back out - clearly a pointless enterprise as 5 minute later while typing this I've just spotted it running along the kitchen floor 🙄 At least I hope it was the same one!! Trap will stay out til we've caught it/them now - I can tolerate mouse activity in the loft but don't really want them in the places we hang out!
Right, resting til Mr Cheery leaves.3 -
The problem with mice in the attic is that they work their way into the house. Maybe get a cat? Then again, chickens eat mice...4
-
Mr Cheery won't have a cat (and in my experience they tend to spend a fair bit of time bringing animals INTO the house!) And yes, theoretically the chickens will eat a mouse (and we have seen them catch a vole - and then look extremely confused and let it go 😂). In reality, I suspect having a chicken in the house permanently would cause far more trouble than a mouse would 😂
Will persist with the trap for now (although clearly it needs moving from the bathroom as it's not being very effective!)
Anyway, needless to say not much of my list got done 🙄😂 I did, however, scythe solidly for two hours this evening, in addition to the hour I did this morning. Newly sharpened scythe blade i excellent - clearly I have lots to learn about properly sharpening, but given that it cost £4 and made a massive difference, I'll likely just pay again a couple of times in the next few weeks til I'm done.
Strted in a different corner of the field tonight as there was quite a stiff breeze flattening the grass and it's easier to cut with the grass bending away from you. Finally achieved something close to the rhythm and calmness that you see in the scything videos - normally I'm hitting mole hills or tufty grass, or getting cross because it won't cut properly or it's tangled in something 🙄 Anyway, if I can do it again tomorrow I might get Mr Cheery to video me so u can refer back 😂😂
Made some more hat progress while watching a film tonight, but didn't cross anything else off the list.
No specific plans for tomorrow - getting as much scything done as possible is the order of the day!
Back to work on Monday. Feel like I need a couple of weeks off to recover from my time off 🙄😂😂4 -
Oops, meant to post a pic...
