Thanks all xxx
Definitely no running around here edwink 🙄 I've had a bath and washed my hair and that's the limit of my activity for the day I think 🙄2 -
Sounds like you are getting properly hammered by the lurgy. Hopefully the magic of Harry Potter will help you through it!Live the good life where you have been planted.

Thank you both, expelliarmus covid indeed! 🙄
I reached my limit at 3 Harry Potter films, then watched a different film in the evening.
Slept on a thin mattress on the floor, and it was a GREAT idea. I did wake up several times, but it felt like it was because I'd already done loads of resting, rather than because i was ill or uncomfortable. My back certainly feels better today.
Generally I feel a little bit more human today, thank goodness. I was awake early, so I even voluntarily went to check on the chickens first thing (Mr Cheery has been doing it this week). I've not done anything else other than getting dressed 😂
I might actually attempt to do something today though. Not sure what - not much!! 😂 But I might at least start restoring my sick room to some kind of order, and maybe put away the washing I did the other day. Not going to attempt the washer experimentation as it's raining heavily, so if the machine doesn't spin, I'll never get anything dry inside 🙄
First thing though - another cup of tea, and I realised I forgot about the last lot of chocolate buttons Mr Cheery gave me yesterday (!) Crikey, I must have been ill!!7 -
Sounding good! Remember that when you're recovering is when you *can* be tempted to do too much - take it slow! A cup of tea and tidying the sick room might be as far as is wise2023: the year I get to buy a car7

You're right, of course. One of the reasons I've avoided taking painkillers etc so far is to ensure I FEEL ill enough to make me stay still 🙄 Ridiculous, but there we are. I'm hampered today in any effort to do too much by (a) the rain, which is stopping me even going outside, let alone pottering in the garden, and (b) the need to try to avoid infecting Mr Cheery, which means staying out of the rest of the house, where possible.
I think I'm going to sew myself a couple of cushions for the sofa bed in the study today though. Been wanting to for ages, and I've now got an old duvet I can make stuffing from, so I can gently potter and cut and sew in front of a video without even leaving the room 😊7 -

Enjoy the sewing2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
One cushion done, and that's my lot today I think. The cover didn't take very long - I had to make the actual cushion from a bit of old duvet first and that's what took the time! In reality I could have just folded and shoved it in, but I quite like a bit of hand sewing, so stitched all the folded edges to make a nice neat cushion pad.
Used up some fabric I found in a charity shop about 10 years ago that I've been carrying round with me so that's good. Also feeling inspired to make another few - maybe another one for the study, a couple for the sofa (where did the others all go?!) and some for what will be the day bed in my new upstairs sewing room if we ever move bedrooms 🙄
Had a bit of a rest after all that activity, and now contemplating tea.
I must say, being ill is quite a bit easier when there's food in the house, meals in the freezer, and the room you need to use as a sick room is clean and tidy and organised 🙄😂 It's been pleasant spending a few days in here, whereas a few months ago by this point I would have been raging at the mess and cobwebs.
It's inspiring me to crack on with the rest of the house! I was doing an epic job on the ceiling til I got ill, so that'll be my first job once I'm not contagious and not dizzy any more.
Might venture up the drive for a small stroll in a bit since it's stopped raining. Thrilling stuff.
QMee standing at £4.39 - would be good to get it over £5 and paid out today to add a bit more to the car fund!
Haven't rung the pensions people - didn't really feel up to it, and the whole point was to speak to them, then pass the phone to Mr Cheery - but as he's not being in the same room as me at the min that wasn't going to happen 😂 Next week...6 -
Well, I do very much feel I have turned a corner today. I persuaded Mr Cheery to join me on a perambulation to the end of the drive (upwind of me, and at a suitable distance) - we made a right pair, as he has a gammy knee at the minute, and I've barely stood up for three days
Still, we made it past the end of the drive, and all the way down the lane! Probably about half a mile round trip! Good heavens. It was SO nice to be outside. After all the rain, the air felt fresh, and I spotted what I think was a pheasant's nest (all eggs hatched and inhabitants long gone - Mr Cheery saw some the other day so assuming those). Most jolly.
Then some neighbours popped round wanting my signature on something as a supposed 'professional'. Lots of hand sanitiser sloshed around and I stopped at the other side of the garden, but it was nice to see someone other than Mr Cheery!
After all that, and some tea from the freezer, I've felt considerably brighter, so I've done some financial admin - banks, checked credit card statement, cancelled something I signed up for a trial month of, downloaded some documents and sent them off for something else.
Then I started the ridiculous process of trying to sign Mr Cheery up for Prolific... Well, of course you can have two accounts in the same house, but you can't both use the same paypal address. We only have one paypal address (mine) so the first job was to sign him up for another one.
Tried to create paypal account, but it insisted he already had one. However, it would only send a verification code to our old landline number, which obviously we don't have any more, so I snapped and set up a new one with a different email address. Then realised you're not meant to have two personal ones - but as we have no way of accessing the other one anyway, and it's got a separate email, bank, address and possibly even separate surname depending when it was set up, as he changed his several years ago, we're going to ignore the first one unless they get in touch.
Then tried to sign him up to Prolific - and of course they have a waiting list, so we can't even do that. The verification link in the email just led to a blank screen, so at this point I have no idea whether he's even on the list or not.
Goodness me. I mean, these things are pretty much always a palaver, but it's SO much easier when you keep on top of accounts, passwords, details etc... Sigh. It'll be worth it if he does end up signing up - he's not got the patience for any of the other survey sites etc, but should be alright doing this, so it might get us a bit more tea and scone money. I just wish there wasn't quite so much faffing about in the first place!
Hey ho. Clearly I'm feeling somewhat better else I wouldn't be sat at my desk messing about with the finances7
