Hopefully everything worked out OK, the dentist wasn't too grim, and you didn't have to wait too long!

Dentist wasn't grim and I didn't have to wait at all - I parked the car and checked my phone, only to find a missed call an hour earlier cancelling the appointment 🙄 Dentist apparently came back from holidays yesterday and woke up ith a streaming cold.

Whilst I absolutely do NOT want a poorly sneezing dentist, it's rather vexing as this was a 90 min appointment, so I've had to reschedule for a month away, and the follow up for September. This has been dragging on since January I think so a bit sick of it now! At least I'm not in pain, and I was meant to be in town anyway so no harm done.

Anyway, much excitement at work event. We were all sitting very quietly (we're all here to work on individual things, so it's a bit like an exam set up 😂) when we heard dripping... turns out someone left a bath running upstairs 😱 Fortunately the ceiling didn't actually cave in, but we all moved pretty sharpish when the plaster started cracking 😱

Mr Cheery is coming to get me in an hour and a half, so I've repaired to the bar and furnished myself with some sweet potato fries 😁

Did he just totally forget he dropped you off, Cheery?!

PS we got two Silkie pullets this evening, they are the cutest thing ever, like walking pom poms. Our existing two girls are very much not impressed 😳😆 I can’t remember how long it took them to all settle in together last time we introduced the two new chooks to our previous chickens (three years ago). Any advice on encouraging chicken friendships? Our big girls only like to roost on top of their house so we’ve shut the littles into the house for tonight to keep them separate.

    Morning chums 😊

Adding another thing to the list for the weekend - starting the hunt for a new mattress. We've been talking about it for ages, but I keep waking up uncomfortable and I'm blaming that, so I'm going to stop talking and start acting. Mr Cheery bought this one with his previous girlfriend about 25 years ago so it's long overdue in my opinion 😮

Might start with the local bed shop and see what happens from there. I'm not so secretly hankering after a Premier Inn mattress 😂 Not cheap, but apparently this one was about £500 all those years ago anyway... We'll see.

£3.23 on the Happy Wheel this morning, so July's total is now standing at £246 - yes that's gone down a bit, but still decent for this early in the month.

Claimed £5.07 from Prolific so that's gone in the new car fund (which might be repurposed as the new mattress fund) which now stands at £321.75.

Right, best get a wriggle on. I woke before 6, and while I've had breakfast and messed with the Happy Wheel, I've not done anything else - need to let the chickens out, have a shower, and get out of the house in the next 20 mins!

Re mattress - we bought a Dunlopillo latex mattress and it remains brilliant, over thirty years later. You can get mattresses with a latex topper as part of the mattress these days and well worth considering, especially if you sneeze a lot - just looked. Not cheap but worth it. Only the industry body recommends regular replacement and it is made up of mattress manufacturers with a vested interest in you doing so!
