Occasionally I will look on ebid when bored to see if someone listed something at a silly low price.

Etsy I have given up looking on there, far too much Chinese trinkets listed as handmade unique.
Handmade unique mass produced does not compute in my brain

A huge lack of Chinese junk on ebay lately though?  Where are all the Chinese sellers?
Money laundering catching up with them or forcing them off ebay?

The new rules about location accuracy has rather hit the ebay Chinese sellers, they are certainly less prolific than they used to be.

I was rather disappointed to see how much Chinese junk was being sold on Etsy , brand new junk with 1000 quantity available but getting round the listing restrictions by using the word ‘vintage’.

A few years back there were some hand made oil paintings coming out of China (presumably they still do them somewhere). I saw the line they were producing them on. They were churning out thousands of them on a long line with workers dropping blobs of paint, a kind of industrial paint by numbers. Anyway they were framed in a cheap bit of wood and then put in a cardboard sleeve to be sold in pound shops as handmade paintings.
I once saw them on Covent Garden market being sold at £10 plus. They took the rubbish frames and cardboard sleeves off and sold them as artist unknown.
Handmade doesn't really mean much. There isn't much that comes out of China that is totally made by a robot so they can probably call anything handmade.

The changes in international trade are affecting most of us, presumably the Chinese will be worse off as they take the most advantage. I was told this week that to sell into Spain I need to go to the Spanish Embassy and declare I don't live in Spain. last time I sold there I didn't turn over more than £1k/year. Hardly seems worth the hassle.

Ebid, just needs more buyers. I don't know why more buyers and sellers don't come over from ebay.
This is a great site for both parties. Well organised and the freedom to chose your own payment handler (not enforced like ebay).
Just a lack of high visibility advertising from the owners of ebid. Surely now is the time for them to start a campaign to attract more buyers.

There is a long running thread for ebid, but very little interest. They were running in the UK before ebay UK got started and it's the only auction site I've ever lost money on- foolishly I grabbed the offer of a half price limited offer on membership (it's been half price for ever!) and never even made enough to cover that cost.

After 24/25 years I can't see them improving any time soon.

    Says it all really.

They've been going as long as Ebay.co.uk
I'm pleased some people can do well on it but for the work involved you may as well just have your own website and flog it around social media.

Now is the time?   That boat sailed many times.

There have been many missed apportunities for them to push hard and gain a decent customer base and yet it plods along
with the majority of the population having never heard of it.

As above some people maybe making some money on there but could they do better elsewhere, my money  is going to be
on that answer being a yes they could do better than ebid.

Curious what percentage of their customer base have been banned from ebay?
