They could put it on the table for the OP to eat as per the contract.Jenni_D said:
Agreed. And if they refuse then you'd have a case to sue them for a refund - they can't keep the money and the food.pinkshoes said:
I would certainly phone the restaurant and explain one of the party will not be able to come due to having COVID, so would it be possible for their meal to be packaged up as a take-away to be eaten later! As they don't offer refunds then this would only be fair.Eldsmum12 said:Thanks all for the replies. I got mixed up with the guidance as it changes so often. I’m in Wales so I believe my family (all fully vaccinated) could still go and hopefully bring me some food back :-)0 -
And then the rest of the family could take it away.DB1904 said:

That reminds me of an old family friend who used to take us for meals then insist us children carried the leftovers out for her animals. She’d wrap them in paper napkins then we’d walk out dripping gravy and completely mortified. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -

OP did. They have covid. They may feel fine, but by definition they're not well.smashinglynaive said:

Don't assume that all restaurants have the facilities to package up food to take away. It's one thing to wrap a piece of steak in a napkin to take home for the dog, and another entirely to be able to package up a complete Christmas meal. If the OP's family can provide containers, the easiest option may be just to get the meal delivered to the table and package it themselves. Although how appetising a meal will be when it gets to the intended recipient is open to question.

If it's any consolation, whether just the two of us or out for a meal with friends, my girlfriend still does this without a shred of embarrassment as a treat for our dogs...elsien said:That reminds me of an old family friend who used to take us for meals then insist us children carried the leftovers out for her animals. Which is different in what way to the content of your post criticising them for adding nothing?
