The ones who can't get exemptions and can't afford to absorb/pass on the charge* will need to go elsewhere. Go shopping in another city or whatever.

I live approx 18 miles away from Manchester City Center and will get hit with the £10 daily charge.
There is a anpr camera 800 meters from my house and pass it every day..
So how  do I go to another city/town without passing the camera.
There is no financial help for private individuals who have a small van for private use, unless they have owned the vehicle over 12 months.
All households should have received a booklet about the changes when this got the go ahead, but received nowt.
Seems like a move to a estate car / people carrier / lifestyle vehicle would be your best move then.

On the plus side, van prices are up.

It doesn't start for vans till June 2023. So if you still have it, you'll have owned it over 12 months!

@plumb1_2 appears to have forgotten that this had already been pointed out to them last month in the thread about whether they had been mis-sold a van...

It's the whole of Greater Manchester as the air quailty is poor across the area.

In fact the air quality index today in Manchester (72) is worse than Central London (67)
Even Stockport's air is worse (76).
Hi, I live in Stockport & of course the emissions are going to be high, there is the M60 motorway running straight through the centre of the town, there is a 7 platform  railway station where nearly every train heading south from Manchester stops & we also are on the main flight path to Manchester airport with a plane passing overhead every minute.

But the vehicles on the motorway, the trains or the airlines will all be exempt from this charge, it will be targeting the small trader with his +5 year old van!
