  • No restrictions here.  You can have as many trips as you wish and if they have enough staff they will help you.  We do have a lot of older people around here, maybe that has something to do with it  :)

Where I used to live, it was a small cul-de-sac and bins were left all over the place by the bin men on collection day. One of the houses was supported accommodation for people with learning disabilities, and their staff would sometimes put the wrong bins back in their front yard - I'm sure by mistake rather than any malice aforethought.

I solved the problem by getting out a large paintbrush and a can of emulsion, and painting my address in a decorative script on the side of the bin - large enough to occupy the entire side of the bin. Never an issue after that. I believe you can do this in a less spectacular fashion by means of stick-on numbers.

To the OP - once you're properly in residence, visit your new neighbour to say hello and introduce yourself, and mention in passing how you've put your address on the bin because at your previous place they weren't always returned to the right house.

Meanwhile, check that you're not being billed for two bins when you've only got one, and request another from the council if you are.

Good luck in your new house!

Our council specifically tell you not to paint anything on your bin.  We had 3 garden bins at one point as there was a huge amount of overgrowth we needed to get rid of. I've returned one, and the other spare will be going back as soon as I can get around to organising it. You can stick numbers on the bins, but I'm guessing if they get them back, they want to be able to reissue them elsewhere.
