Vibrating TV/Sound Bar

My daughter describes this problem, which apparently started happening recently. I stayed there a couple of weeks ago (she wasn't there) and did not experience the problems.
Watching TV using Now TV and with sound bar ON, the TV rumbles/vibrates
Watching TV using Now TV and with sound bar OFF it’s OK
Watching TV through aerial and sound bar ON it is OK no rumbles
Have swapped cables for HDMI/ARC and no difference (as one would expect)
Put sound bar on floor (off the TV stand) and still same problem.
Sony Bravia TV kdl48w3553
Sound bar is Philips HTL2163B
It only does it when it’s low bass sounds.
Anybody come across this before or have any suggestions apart from buying new as none of it is particularly old!

Does the NowTV box have its own sound settings? Wonder if the bass setting has inadvertently been boosted on it?2

Good point, I will ask the question. When I was there last just turned it all on and it went to last settings used. Maybe daughter has found some Now TV settings.1

Sounds like something in the subwoofer area is loose, which would only show up when something is broadcast with a surround sound signal (such as NowTV). Most broadcast channels will be bog standard stereo and won't utilise the subwoofer.2

That ideally should be on the floor but sounds like it is in the TV cabinet / shelves?
^^ sub woofers don't need a surround signal, they just pass low band <200Hz to the sub regardless of whether the source is mono / stereo / surround. Technically 2.1 isn't surround sound, it is just stereo with a sub woofer - the OP's system is just that.TadleyBaggie said:Sounds like something in the subwoofer area is loose, which would only show up when something is broadcast with a surround sound signal (such as NowTV). It is often described as "virtual surround" with stereo systems which is just a marketing gimmick for some extra sound processing that tries to fake a surround system but isn't usually that good - look up psychoacoustics for more info.
The first step into true surround is 3.1 - left / right / centre + subwoofer, next is 5.1 that adds 2 rear and finally 7.1 that adds 2 side speakers. (There is 9.1 / 10.2 / 12.2 surround but that is rarely seen).

What's actually vibrating.
You say TV but is it that.
Is the TV sound muted?0 -
I see that particular sound bar comes with a separate sub-woofer; will ask the question as to where it is located and get her to investigate it. I am told it is the TV that is vibrating. TV sound is muted when sound bar is in use. Further info came in last night; she is watching Netflix, not using Now TV and it is still doing it, so that rules out the Now TV equipment. I will ask her the surround sound settings.0

Basic questions ; is it worth checking the tv audio settings ? Is it worth disconnecting soundbar and reconnecting ? Are there different interconnect cables to try out or different types ( rca audio for example ) ?1
