I assume you couldn't take the kitten home with you until the cheque had cleared?donnac2558 said:Last year, I was getting a new Burmese and asked the breeder which method of payment? I said cash or bank transfer, and she asked for a cheque. I still have cheque book, but it must be at least 5 years plus since last used. I phoned my bank to ask if I could still use it? Yes.0 -
I just tell people I do not have a cheque book. They can either give me bank details into which I can deposit the money in 30 seconds flat or wait several weeks until I think I have time, and/or remember, to go to the bank and get them a cheque (with any costs deducted from the total amount). Their choice!

Or you could just order a cheque book online and then keep it for future use...

But it's a bit silly not to get a chequebook if you already know you need one eg because you're a leaseholder with a freeholder who requires payment by cheque...Andy_L said:

Or the freeholder could change their practices so that they no longer require a cheque.user1977 said:

I didn't say I didn't have one, I do still have the last one issued to me (it still contains 18 out of the 25 cheques, of the 7 used, 6 were used in 2009 and one in 2012 (a cancelled cheque used for ID purposes)).RogerBareford said:IvanOpinion said:I just tell people I do not have a cheque book. I just tell people I don't have one - it is amazing how quickly people can change their mind and supply bank details on the realisation that it is the difference between them getting paid or them waiting several weeks for their money.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
